Marimar Episode 53 - The one where Sergio Meets Bella

Bella greets Leonor warmly. Cruzita tells everyone that her mom is beautiful and she is beautiful like her mom. Marimar exclaims, "Well, that's my baby" and everyone is happy to welcome the new arrivals. They all go inside the house. Fulgoso arrives complete with studded leather paw bracelets and a new accent, "Hey Yo! Wazzup?" Inay Leonor exclaims, "Ang guwapo ni Fulgoso!"

Angelika arrives at Villa Santibanez and the staff welcome her at the main entrance. Monica kisses her friend and asks, "Kumusta ka na? Nagputa ka ba sa Statue of Liberty?" (How are you? Did you go to the Statue of Liberty?)

Angelika replies in her usual sharp tone, "Alam mo Monica, nakakatuwa ka talaga, kasi hanggang ngayon, tanga ka pa rin. Nasa New York and Statue of Liberty. Sa Paris ako galing!" (You know Monica, you are so amusing. Until now, you are such an idiot. The Statue of Liberty's in New York city, I came from Paris!)

Monica changes the subject and asks about Renato. Immediately Angelika's face turns somber.

Antonio is in the office chatting on the phone with someone. Sergio walks in and he cuts his conversation. Sergio teases him whether he'd been talking to Georgia. Antonio tells him Georgia is old news, this is another lady. Sergio couldn't quite believe how quickly his friend changes from one relationship to another and asks him whether he's serious or not. Antonio tells him he's just a single guy enjoying himself which is quite normal. Sergio cautions him to be careful, "Baka mapikot ka." (Get involved in a shot-gun wedding.) Antonio replies he is quite careful. He further suggests introducing Sergio to a couple of his model friends. Sergio reminds him that he's a married man. Antonio cuts him and tells him that he is aware that his friend is married, in fact he's been saying that for four years.

"Four years, four months, eight days..." Sergio sighs, obviously aware of how long it has been since he and Marimar had been apart.

Angelika is now in serious, woman-in-grave-suffering-mode and replies to everyone, "Parating na." He's coming. An ambulance arrives and Renato in a straight-jacket is escorted outside the van. He appears crazy telling the medics that he doesn't want to be there.

We see a new character in the story (Marvin Agustin). He seems suave, confident and successful as he arrives at a board meeting. The smooth-talker sits and waits along with the others for the arrival of Gustavo Aldama's heiress.

Renato is indeed crazy and Angelika instructs her staff to put him inside and give him his medication so he remains calm. She tells the crowd of staff and friends that Renato had been quite stressed when they left for Paris. It has gotten worse and now he is completely lunatic. She continues to emote that she has done everything she can for him, even consulted specialists in Paris. Nicandro comments, "Grabe naman ang nangyari. Kawawa naman pala si Sir Renato."

The slick board member appears to be getting impatient from waiting. He inquires, "Sino ba yang Bella Aldama na iyan? 2 p.m. na! Darating pa ba?" (Who is this Bella Aldama? It's two p.m.! Is she still coming?) Just then, Bella arrives. She immediately quites the board by telling them straight and particularly addressing the young maverick, "Kung nagmamadali kayong umalis, hindi ko kayo pipigilan. Bukas ang pinto para sa inyo. You may leave anytime you want." (If you want to leave, I cannot stop you. The door is open.) Despite the invitation, the young man indicates with a smile that he wants to stay.

Antonio is watching some staff fix a vehicle and does some improvised dance steps to amuse himself. Unknown to him, Sergio is looking from a distance and is laughing at his dance moves.

The young businessman inquires, "Ikaw ba ang anak ni Gustavo Aldama?" (Are you the daughter of Gustavo Aldama?)

"The one and only." Bella confirms. She also adds, "Naisip ko na limang taon din naman kayo naghintay kaya what's wrong with an hour di ba?" (I thought you've all waited for me for the last five years, so what's wrong with an hour, right?" Seeing no other protests from the group, she calls for them to begin, "Let's start the meeting."

Sergio is now laughing loudly and Arturo notices him. He tells his gay friend that one of the reasons he likes him is his way of making him laugh. Sergio admits that he is reminded of one other person who does that to him, make him laugh...one person who makes him truly happy. It's Marimar. She is full of innocence and her face shines with every possibilities open to the world.

In another part of Manila we see a different Marimar. She is stern and her face now has an authority and stiffness that wasn't there before. The group present their proposals to her and she knows that they want the matters presented to be resolved as quickly but she tells them she wants to go over everything first before she gives her approval.

Sergio is still reminiscing life with Marimar as Arturo patiently listens. The handsome racer shares how Marimar's face is so transparent. You'd instatly know when she is happy, angry or worried. She doesn't have any pretenses.

Back at the boardroom, Marimar calls for another meeting as some protest that these proposals are given by people they know and deal with regularly. She cuts them short telling them that yes, they do know these people but she doesn't. So she has the right to get to know them and give her final approval. Having no other objection she sets the date for their next meeting and ends the current one. Getting up, she makes for the door.

Sergio admits that Marimar is like a child and he likes the fact that she was totally dependent on him. He liked to be needed by Marimar, like back then.

Rodolfo, the suave, slick, businessman runs for the door so he can get it for Bella. She tells him, "May kamay ako, kaya kong magbukas ng pinto." (I have hands, I can open doors.)

Rodolfo introduces himself, "Rodolfo San Gines." (Sangines? San Ines? Kaka-ines? San Hines? San Jines?... dunno the spelling, sorry) and adds, "But you can call me, Rodolfo."

Marimar tells him as he holds the door for her, "You can call me, Miss Aldama." and leaves.

Sergio still daydreams about his wife telling Arturo that Marimar is, "ibang-iba sa lahat ng mga babae."

Rodolfo seems to be thinking the same thing as Sergio, considering Bella as different from the many girls he dates. He invites her to a masquerade ball he himself organised for his family's business. Bella checks with her secretary and Rowena tells her that she already has something scheduled. Rodolfo is not deterred, telling her that he is going to send an invite anyway, just in case she changes her mind.

Esperanza is at home and is updating Bella about the applicants she's been interviewing all morning but is sorry that she hasn't found a suitable one to look after Cruzita. A maid comes in an ushers a new applicant, it is Corazon! When Esperanza asks her name, she replies, "Corazon Osmena."

Angelika meets the entire Villa Santibanez staff. She tells them, "Si Renato ay isa nang baliw. Pero hindi ito hadlang para lumago ang Villa Santibanez. Mula ngayon, ako na ang tatayong presidente ng Villa Santibanez. Susundin ninyo lahat ng ipag-uutos ko. Ang sinumang hindi sumunod, malalagot." (Renato is now crazy. But this is no reason why Villa Santibanez should stop from prospering. From now on, I am the president of Villa Santibanez and my word is law. Those who do not follow will suffer the consequences.)

Antonio is excited about a masquerade ball he is attending. It is a good chance to meet girls as well as promote their company. He encourages Sergio to come along with him. "Ano date mo ako? Para ka ng si Arturo!" (What, me come with you? Am I your date? Have you gone gay like Arturo?)

Esperanza and Marimar are together and the elder Aldama asks her niece how her first day at work had gone. Marimar replies that it all went well except for her high heels which she still needs a lot of getting used to. She asks for Cruzita and she finds her daughter with her new nanny, it is Corazon! Marimar is happy to see her old friend and she hugs her warmly. Corazon is surprised but happy to see Marimar doing rather well and looking as pretty as ever. Marimar asks Esperanza if she can have a private word with Corazon. Her aunt agreed and took Cruzita to play elsewhere.

Antonio perseveres in inviting Sergio to accompany him to the ball. He tells his boss that it's the perfect opportunity to introduce their company to the rich and influential people. Sergio finally gives in and agrees to come with him.

Corazon comments that Cruzita is very pretty and sweet child. Marimar tells Corazon that her name is now Bella. When Corazon asks why she changed her name, which is so much nicer than her new one, Marimar tells her she did it to forget about her past, especially, "para makalimutan ang panloloko sa akin ni Sergio." (to forget about how Sergio had made a fool of her.)

Corazon is surprised at Marimar's evident anger towards Sergio and tells her he didn't fool her. But Marimar is closed to reason. She just asks Corazon to keep this a secret from Cruzita, the identity of her father. She makes Corazon promise never to tell Cruzita about who her father is. Corazon is confused but she agrees.

Marimar and Cruzita are playing outside. Esperanza and Innocencia look on. Esperanza observes that despite her niece's education and life in America, "Di pa rin siya tuluyang nagbago." (She hasn't completely changed.) Esperanza can see that her niece's kind nature is inherent.

The game Marimar and Cruzita play is similar to Sergio and Marimar's game - covering their faces and changing it from sad to happy to goofy. Innocencia adds, "Pinatungan niya ang bihis at anyo pero pag kasama niya ang mga mahal niya sa buhay, siya pa rin si Marimar." (She added a new layer of clothing and appearances but underneath it all, when she is with her loved ones, she is still Marimar.)

Meanwhile, the girls are back in swimsuit mode in Villa Santibanez as Angelika and Monica lounge by the pool. Angelika exclaims how she missed being home. Monica is still shocked at Renato's condition and probes her friend to tell her what happened. Angelika admits she's planned it well before their left for Paris.

We flashback to a doctor Angelika met four years earlier, a Dr Castillo who had been experimenting on illicit drugs. These have been banned as they are quite lethal. Small doses can cause hallucinations and memory loss. She bribed him so she can get her hands on some of the medication he invented so she can give it to Renato and make him go crazy.

At first, she gave him small doses along with his drinks or food. Slowly she increased the dosage until he started showing signs of paranoia. He now has hallucinations and talks to 'people' only he sees. Angelika gives a triumphant smile, "Sa wakas, nagbunga na rin ang matagal kong hinintay. Wala na siya sa sarili niyang pag-iisip. Isa na siyang 'krung-krung'!" Both Angelika and Monica laugh. The former offers her friend some juice but Monica declines, telling her friend she may be the next one to go crazy. Angelika banters back that her friend can never go crazy because, "wala ka namang utak eh!" Monica agrees,"Ay oo nga ano!" and both women continue to enjoy each other's company.

Rodolfo gives Bella an invite to his masquerade ball. He tells her that his father wants very much to meet her. He is quite old, a sickly man these days, and would be happy to finally meet Bella Aldama. Bella stops him by saying, "I get it, emotional blackmail?" and Rodolfo laughs. He flirtily replies, "Whatever works" but quickly adds and in a serious manner that his family would be pleased "if Bella can come, please."

It is the masquerade ball and guests are already there and having fun. Antonio and Sergio arrive sleek in their tuxedos. Sergio immediately complains, "Wala akong kakilala dito at di mo sinabing costume party pala ito. Tingnan mo, mukha akong waiter!" (I don't know anyone here and you didn't warn me this is going to be a costume party. Look at me, I look like the waiter!)

Antonio tells him to relax. He's quite used to social events like this and was quite the party animal at some time. Sergio tells Antonio that he has changed a lot since he got married. Resigned to his fate for the evening, Sergio goes around and says, "I need a drink." Alcohol would be quite appropriate for this. A waiter passes by and he grabs a glass of wine. Antonio sees some friends and goes off to greet them leaving Sergio sulking alone.

Bella gets made-up as she gets ready for the masquerade ball. Cruzita comes to her room and asks her where she's going. She tells her daughter that she's going to a party but assures her that she'll be back as soon as possible. Cruzita asks whether she could wait up for her but Bella tells her it would be quite late. Her daughter prods if she can instead sleep in her mom's bed and to this Marimar acquieces.

Back at the ball, a lady approaches Sergio asking him whether he is the racer and the handsome man admits that it is him indeed. The woman exclaims, "I'm a big fan" and asks him why he's not wearing a mask. He blandly replies that he's got nothing to hide. She introduces herself and continue to flirts with Sergio by asking him, "Totoo ba ang saying na basta driver, sweet lover?" Sergio gets a bit irritated but smiles and tells her, "I don't know but I think you should ask my wife." The lady feels like she's been slapped, "Wife? You're married."

"Yes," he confirms, "excuse me," and leaves the woman in shock.

Nicandro, Perfect and Angelika take Renato to the bodega and Nicandro ties him up in chains in his hands and feet. Angelika orders Nicandro to make sure the chains are all securely locked. Angelika and Perfecta look down on the lunatic Renato who asked Angelika for mercy. Angelika coldly replies, "Naawa ka ba sa akin noong sinasaktan mo ako? Sa wakas nakaganti na rin ako." (Did you give me mercy when you were hurting me? I've finally gotten my revenge.)

She orders the two, "Ikandado ang bodega at kahit anong gawing sigaw ng baliw kong asawa, walang papansin sa kanya." (Lock the store room and whatever racket my crazy husband is making, no one is to pay him any mind) To Renato she sweetly says, "Bye honey, be a good boy."

Sergio is quite bored at the ball and tells Antonio that he wants to leave. Antonio begs him to stay, "Diyan ka lang, wag mo kong iiwanan."

From a short distance the girl flirting with him joins her friends. They ask her whether she got his number and she pouts as she reveals that she did not, as he is already married.

Sergio avoided the crowds on the ground floor and decided to be moody and sulk upstairs where he has a good view of the ball downstairs.

Marimar arrives and waits to be announced. An usher goes off to find Rodolfo.

Rodolfo is busy greeting guests, going around, making sure everyone is having a great time. Antonio introduces himself to the host who greets their group warmly. The usher comes to tell him his guest has arrived and he follows him.

Cruzita doesn't want to sleep. She wants to wait for her mommy to return. Corazon tells her to sleep now so she won't have any eye-bags (baggy eyes). Cruzita declares she doesn't want to have eye-bags then quickly asks Corazon what they are. Corazon laughs realising Cruzita is so much like Marimar. Cruzita asks her nanny whether she knew her mommy even then and she tells her ward that she's been friends with Marimar for a long time. Cruzita lights up. The little girl asks, if she knew Marimar since then, it is possible she also knows her father. Corazon stalls and tries to evade the question telling her that it's time to sleep. But Cruzita persists that she wants to know about her daddy. Corazon advises the little girl to ask her mom instead. Cruzita shares her wish with Corazon, "Sana someday, makilala ko na ang daddy ko."

Sergio is being stalked by the same girl who introduced herself to him. Rodolfo meets Bella as she enters the ball. He sees her and exclaims, "Wow, you're beautiful. You've made my evening complete." Marimar smiles and allows Rodolfo to accompany her to the stage. She wears a mask and waits to be presented.

Rodolfo calls everyone's attention and thanks them for coming to the ball. He presents to everyone the ball's guest of honor, Miss Bella Aldama. Marimar removes her mask and so does everyone. The guests clap and Sergio is dumbstruck. He couldn't believe who he is seeing. Rodolfo and Bella get down the stage and go round the ballroom to meet the other guests. Bella smiles and shakes everyones hands. She kisses many of them in the cheeks. She freezes for a few seconds when she hears a familiar voice scream, "Marimar!" She turns and sees Sergio above the ballroom. Their eyes meet and recognition sparks. She blinks and turns away, preparing to leave. Sergio runs down the stairs and catches up with her.

Sergio, "Marimar! Anong nangyari sa iyo?"

Bella, "I'm sorry pero nagkakamali ka. I'm Bella Aldama. I'm not Marimar."

Sergio insists, "Marimar!"

Bella, "Please don't make a scene. I don't know you and again, I'm not Marimar."

Bella is conscious of the many eyes watching them. Sergio is oblivious to the crowd, his eyes only on his wife. Rodolfo intervenes. "Bella what's going on? Who's this guy ba?"

Sergio is persistent, "Ako si Sergio, ako ang asawa niya."

Marimar Episode 52

Marimar Episode 52 – The one with the US trip, there and back again

Sergio is very angry and takes Arturo with him to his office. He wants to call Angelika at Villa Santibanez, to confront her; he doesn’t know that they’ve left the country for Paris. Antonio gives Sergio an important letter from Kim and he tells Sergio to read it at once.

Sergio opens the letter and voice-over of Kim says: “I’ve decided to do the smart thing in life. I guess you can’t win them all. I’m admitting defeat.”

We see Kim crying as she prepares her things, deciding to leave Manila and Sergio so she can move on wit her life and find her own happiness.

Her voice-over continues, “Kahit anong gawin ko di mabubura ang nakaraan mo. Hindi maalis si Marimar sa puso mo.”

She now accepts that Sergio is still in love with Marimar and so she must give him time to find her. She is indeed quite a good person after all.

Kim adds, “Please don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine. And to show you na walang sama ng loob sa dibdib ko...”

Sergio reads the last lines, “eto and address kung saan mo matatagpuan si Marimar.”

Kim gave Sergio the address where she kept seeing Marimar, which is actually Innocencia’s address.

Innocencia is very excited about their trip. She is all packed and ready and Marimar is helping her do last minute checks in their old home. Both women are scared because they feel that they are not very good English speakers. Marimar tells Innocencia she is better of, having had some formal education but she is totally an ignorant country lass who doesn’t even know how to read properly in her first language.

Fulgoso bids farewell to Fifi calling her, “my ex-honey”.

Fifi asks Fulgoso to stay or at least take her with him to the US. “Fulgoso please don’t leave me, I love you. Isama mo ako sa States, bagay ang beauty for doon!”

Sergio is shocked that Kim knows where Marimar lives. He wants to find out what this means but Arturo reminds him to forget about that and immediately go to the given address if he wants to find his wife that badly.

Innocencia leaves their old house to their neighbors who are very thankful to be able to live there without any rent. Innocencia just made them promise to take good care of the house. She tells the couple that it’s old but she and her mother love the old place very much. It is after all, home. They thank Innocencia again but the young lady tells them she should be the one to thank them for they will be looking after the house for her and her mother. When they ask where she is going, she happily tells them that she and Marimar are going to the USA.

Kim is still in her suite although she has finished packing. She is crying, obviously letting Sergio go is painful and a sad thing for her to do. Her phone rings and she sees that it is Sergio. Having decided to let him go, she ignores his call and doesn’t answer.

Kim talks to Sergio in her mind, “Paalam Sergio. Sana maging masaya ka sa piling ni Marimar. At sana maging masaya na rin ako.” (Oh, I love Kim now, she’s so sublime! Sabagay, she can see how Sergio truly loves Marimar and having known Bella, she can see she is a good person – I wish Kim will find a nice man who will love her and make her happy. She deserves it!)

Sergio is in the car with Arturo driving. He looks quite eager to get to he place, wanting to see his wife whom he’s missed for over a year now. He calls Antonio and asks him to contact Kim who he can’t seem to contact. He wants to find out how she knew about Marimar’s location. Obviously he wants to ask her so many questions, but maybe also to thank her and wish her well.

Marimar and Innocencia board the van as Sergio and Arturo’s jeep stop at the corner store.

Inside the van, the driver asks if they are going straight to the airport. Marimar confirms this telling the driver that her aunt and Cruzita will meet them there.

Sergio gets out of the jeep to talk to a man for directions. Arturo goes out too. As they talk to the man, the van passes by with Marimar and Innocencia inside. The guys and girls were facing at opposite directions and didn’t see each other.

Inside the van, Marimar tells Innocencia, “Kinakabahan ako na natutuwa na kinakabahan, ewan ko ba. Di kaya tayo mahirapan doon?” (I’m nervous and happy and excited and scared all at the same time. Wouldn’t we find it difficult living in a strange country?)

Innocencia is confident. “Siguro sa simula pero magtutulungan tayo para makayanan natin.” (Maybe it will be hard at first but they will help one another to overcome any obstacles.)

Sergio confirms the address, “Number eight Lamayan street, Sta. Ana, Metro Manila.” and is pointed to a certain direction by the man he asked directions from. Arturo and him excited follow his instructions.

Marimar tells Innocencia that she does want to start over again and get a new life. Yet she is sad because she feels that she will be leaving behind almost one half of her life, her old life, behind.

Sergio and Arturo find the house but the doors are all pad-locked and no one seems to be around. They ask some neighbors. A lady tells them that no one by the name of Marimar lives there but describes another lady, Bella who fits Marimar’s exact description including a large brown dog – Sergio and Arturo both exclaim, “Si Fulgoso!” The lady tells them Leonor and her daughter who used to live there moved to live in another place. But the daughter and Bella have just left and rumor has it that they are bound for the airport to go to America.

Sergio and Arturo thank her and rush to the jeep to make it to the airport – hopefully they reach Marimar in time.

Marimar and Innocencia get their luggage and Fulgoso checked in. Esperanza gives Innocencia all their passports and documents.

Marimar asks her aunt if it is really not possible for her to accompany them. Esperanza regrets it but she has a lot to do in their company. She tells Marimar not to worry as their housekeeper in the US already knows they are coming and they are expected. There will be people there who will meet and assist them until they get settled.

Innocencia tells Esperanza, “Maam, kayo na po bahala kay Inay.”

Esperanza replies, “Wag kang mag-alala, akong bahala sa inay mo. Basta alagaan at alalayan mo si Marimar at Cruzita ha?”

Innocencia tells her, “Magtutulungan po kami. Magiging lakas namin ang isa’t isa.” (Why is she wearing a sleeveless dress – she is bound for the US and surely it is cold on the plane!)

Esperanza tells Marimar to be careful. “Kaya mo it, at kung meron ka man kailangan, isang tawag lang.”

“Miss ko po kayo.” (I'll miss you.)

“Tandaan mo hija, isang bagong buhay ang naghihintay sa iyo roon.” (Remember that a new life awaits you there.)

Sergio is impatient to get to the airport. He tells Arturo to drive faster.

Esperanza talks to Cruzita and tells her she will miss her. She tells the two young ladies that it is nearly their boarding time. She should go. She reminds them to find their correct gate.

She tells Marimar to pray as they hug and kiss. Both are obviously putting up brave faces and try hard to stop tears from falling.

When Esperanza has left, Marimar sits next to Innocencia.

Sergio wants the car to go much faster, Arturo tries hard to drive at full speed.

Marimar remembers a time when she and Sergio were dining. She asks him how it feels to be on a plane. He tells her about the vibrations. Marimar is afraid she’d get dizzy if she were riding one. Sergio demonstrates what he would do if she felt dizzy. First he will hold her hand tightly and next he will place her head on his shoulders so she wouldn’t feel so dizzy. What a sweet moment! We see Marimar is crying as she remembers how she used to be so in love with Sergio.
It’s their boarding call. Innocencia sees Marimar crying and tells her, “Hangga’t andito pa tayo, kung ano man ang desisyon mo. Susuportahan kita.” (While we are still here, whatever your decision will be, I will support you.)

It’s their last boarding call. Innocencia asks for her friend's decision, “Anong pasya mo, Marimar?”

Marimar is firm as she says, “Oras na para lisanin ko ang lugar na ito. Wala nang dahilan pa para manatili pa dito. Gusto ko pagbalik ko ibang tao na ako. Gusto ko nang iwanan ang Marimar na tatanga-tanga, pinagtatawanan at niloloko.” (It’s time for me to leave this place. There is nothing that keeps me from staying here anymore. I want to return here as another person. I want to leave Marimar behind, the one who is naive and ignorant that easily got fooled and whom people laughed at.)

She stands, ready to leave and declares, “Wala na ang Marimar na tatanga-tanga. Isang Bella Aldama na ang haharap sa kanila.” (Gone is the naive Marimar. In her place is a new Bella Aldama who will face them all.)

Sergio runs inside, he can’t get in fast enough as first he didn’t have any travel documents with him. He was able to convince them to let him in and he goes to the check-in counter looking for a “Marimar Santibanez”. The clerk tells him no one by that name checked in.

He continues to look around but is getting quite frustrated. He was about to come up the escalator but the guards prevent him from going any further. Just a few second earlier, had he looked up, he would have seen Marimar and Innocecia at the top of the escalator stairs.

Sergio is now outside the airport and he is looking frustrated. Arturo tries to come and be with him but he sends his gay friend away. He sits by the pavement – Marimar was almost at his grasp and yet he remains alone.

Sergio finds Antonio is the pub they also frequent. He asks him to contact Kim as he needs to know how she met Marimar, how she knew where his wife lives, etc. Antonio tells him he saw Kim with Marimar on that day in the restaurant where they say Kim’s car parked nearby.

Sergio is upset that Antonio knew and yet kept it a secret from him. “Kaibigan ba kita? Binayaran ka ba niya?” (Are you really my friend or did she pay you?)

“Hindi ako mukhang pera.” (She didn't pay me and I'm not like that.)

“Hindi ka lang mukhang pera, traydor ka pa!” (You're not only that, you're a traitor as well!)

Sergio and Antonio push one another passing insults between them. Antonio walks away.

We find Sergio slumped by his jeep. He sits on the floor and has obviously drunk a lot. He cries, truly in pain. He plays with a Swiss army knife in one hand.

It's been days and in their office, Arturo talks to Antonio and asks him to talk to Sergio. Antonio tells Arturo he can’t as Sergio is still upset with him. Arturo reveals he too has some failings and can’t approach Sergio.

Antonio goes to Sergio and tells him, “Pare tama na yan baka kung ano pa mangyari sa katawan mo.” He wants his friend to stop drinking, maybe he will be ill if he doesn’t stop.

Antonio, “Kung mahal mo si Marimar, itigil mo iyan. Ayusin mo buhay mo.” (If you really love Marimar, you'll try to fix your life.)

Arturo, “Huwag kang mawawalan ng pag-asa.” (Don't ever lose hope)

Sergio, “Pagod na ako sa kaka-antay, kaka-asa, pagod na ako mabuhay.” (I'm so tired of waiting, so tired of hoping, so tired of living.)

Antonio feels truly sad for his friend. He wants to help him so he asks for another chance and promises that this time, they will not leave him alone hanging. “Tuloy lang ang buhay. Give us a chance. Ngayon pare, wala na talagang iwanan.”

The clock ticks, time passes. It is now four years later.

Sergio is in a meeting with his team and he is upset that their sales have gone lower by 30 per cent compared to previous months. Looks like our hunky racer has kept himself busy managing the business he and Kim with Antonio's help started. It is apparent that he'd been a slave driver even to his staff as it is lunch time and they are still in the meeting. Atonio walks out of the meeting and Arturo convinces him to have lunch. Arturo is now a staff of the company and a full-fledge gay. Sergio comes out of the meeting, his friends tell him to take a break and go for lunch but he seems serious and tells them he can't afford to take a break. Both Arturo and Antonio remind him that it's been four years, "puro trabaho na lang inatupag mo." and advise him to take a vacation, travel, take a break.

Meanwhile, at the Villa Santibanez, Monica looks at a gold ring given to her by Diego. They appear to have gotten married and continue to call one another, 'babe'. It also looks like they have the run of the place, being Angelika's best friend. She calls Perfecta and orders her to prepare some food for her and Diego. Diego, who now talks, adds a request for beer. Monica also complains about how their room wasn't thoroughly cleaned. Perfecta takes this all with a straight face which quickly turned into a smirk once she was out of their sight. She complains to Nicandro about the two acting as if they own the place. Nicandro assures her that he heard both Angelika and Renato are returning soon.

At the airport, Angelika checks in the immigration. The officer asks her, "Bakasyon lang maam?" whether she's coming for a vacation, but Angelika answers with certainty, "No, I'm back...for good." As her passport gets stamped she returns to Manila after four years of living in Paris. The question everyone is asking at this point is, where is Renato? And, why aren't they together?

Angelika walks past a little girl holding a stuffed toy. The child asks her, "Excuse me, I'm looking for my dog." Instead of being nice to a little girl, Angelika takes the nasty approach and tells the child she's seen her dog get smashed, head flying off and now dead. Happy to have scared someone, she walks off as cruel and nasty as ever.

The little girl is Cruzita, now four and she runs to Innocencia crying. The loyal ex-secretary of Sergio, now friend and confidante of Marimar is now as pretty as she once was, no longer sporting that ugly scar Angelika herself had once branded on her left cheeks. She tells Cruzita that her mommy is making sure Fulgoso has arrived safely and is now taking the dog to join them.

Of course our naive country lass is now transformed into someone in high heels, short skirt and unbuttoned blouse (all that education and she still doesn't know how to button her blouse!) and red, red lipstick. She calls her Tia Esperanza telling her they arrived earlier than expected. Esperanza is glad that they have arrived safely. She tells her niece that all is ready, delicious food and clean rooms for all of them.

Sergio is back at the office, still in a sour mood. Their stocks are held in customs and he's been pushing for it to be released as soon as possible. He calls Antonio and asks him to ensure it goes through.

Everyone at the Aldama household is excited and ready to greet the balikbayans. Innocencia and Cruzita with Fulgoso arrive first. Innocencia hugs her mother as Leonor exclaims that her daughter looks more beautiful than ever, noting the disappearance of the ugly scar. Then the kind lady stoops down to Cruzita and asks her, "Do you still remember your Lola Leonor?"

She is surprised when Cruzita answered in Tagalog. Innocencia explained that Marimar raised Cruzita to be bi-lingual so she knows how to speak in both English and Tagalog from the start.

Leonor asks where Bella is now that everyone else is here. Another car stops and out comes a woman with straight hair, black shades, red lips, complete make-up and a confident smile. Welcome back Marimar!

Marimar Episode 51

Marimar Episode 51 – The one where Marimar and Kim Meet Again; Sergio finds Arturo

Corazon is selling rice cakes and snacks inside an exclusive-looking subdivision when she bumps into someone...it’s Arturo!

“Anong ginagawa mo dito?”

“Eh di nagtatrabaho, ikaw?”

“May hinahanap akong address, di ko nga makita eh. Naghahanap din ako ng trabaho. May balita ka ba kay bossing sergio?”

“Wala nga eh, pati nga kay maam Marimar wala akong balita, eh.”

The two ask each other why there are there. Corazon updates Arturo that she’s now into sales and marketing. She sells fish in the market and if she’s not doing that, she sells rice cakes and snacks going house to house in subdivisions like this one.

In Manila, Marimar visits Innocencia and her mother, Leonor, whom she also calls ‘inay’ being like a mother to both the young women. (Finally ilang episodes na, ngayon ko lang nakilala si “inay”, haaay...Leonor lang pala!)

Fifi is surprised to see Marimar. Innocencia is happy her friend hasn’t forgotten all about them now that she’s a bigshot billionairess. She asks about Cruzita and Fulgoso and Marimar tells her that Cruzita is fast asleep while Fulgoso doesn’t seem enthusiatic about coming here and chose to stay home.

Fifi, hearing this exclaims, “Fulgoso, where are you? Hindi kita pinagtaksilan, nagugutom lang talaga ako noon.”

Marimar tells Innocencia another reason why she is there: she wants her and her mother to come live with her in her new home. She told both women who appear to be so shocked that they have both been very kind and good to her since she first came into their lives. They have treated her with respect and love and had been like one of the family. Somehow she feels that it is now her turn to repay them for all that they have done for her and her daughter.

Innocencia quickly replied that they are not asking for anything in return. They do not expect to get anything for whatever help they gave her.

Marimar insists that it is not really paying. She really considers them family and she wants all her family to be under one roof, live together and be together.

Innocencia feels awkward, “Nakakahiya naman.” But Marimar assures them that she had already talked this through with her aunt Esperanza and the elder woman had agreed to her suggestion.

Happy at Marimar’s invitation, Innocencia teases her mother, “Ano po Inay, handa na ba kayong ipagpalit ang papag ninyo sa kutson?” (Are you ready to exchange your wooden cot for a soft mattress?)

Leonor looks around their hunble home beaming with happiness and answers, “Sabi nila, masarap daw sa kutson.” (They say it is most comfortable in a mattress.)

Marimar asks them if this is an indication that they agree to her suggestion, that they accept her invitation. Both women smile and nod their heads. The three are happy and share a group hug.

Back at San Martin, Arturo tells Corazon that he is job-hunting as he is now the sole breadwinner for his siblings who had been taken off their stipend from the Santibanez coffers. He plans to leave San Martin dela Costa and head for Manila, where his fortunes may take a positive turn.

Corazon agrees that she too may just take off and find her luck in the city, but not yet.
She convinces Arturo to buy some of her wares and he looks into what she has to offer from her huge basket.

“Meron akong monay.”

“Monay? Ayaw ko niyan eh!” (Ito naman kasi si Corazon, bading nga si Arturo no so shempre wis nya feel ang monay....batuta or lubid-lubid baka type niya!)

Innocencia walks Marimar back to her car with their arms linked together. The former thanks her friend and Marimar brushes it aside, telling her that she is the one who should be thankful. Innocencia tells Marimar that she and her mother will start packing and Marimar promised to have a vehicle come to collect them later.

Marimar is about to ride the car when Kim calls her, “Bella, natatandaan mo pa ba ako?” asking her is she still remembers who she is. Marimar of course remembers he and calls her by her name.

It’s been a few hours and Nanay Leonor with Innocencia arrive at the Aldama mansion. Esperanza greets them kindly and points them to the rooms that have been prepared for them. She asks them to have their bags taken into them and take some time to rest.

When Innocencia asks about Marimar, the aunt tells her that she’s out meeting a friend, perhaps someone from San Martin dela Costa as well. Esperanza is glad Innocencia continues to call her Marimar and is such a familiar manner. She comments that the younger woman probably knows more about her niece than she does.

Innocencia relates how she used to work for Sergio, Marimar’s husband and how Marimar used to be so jealous of her, thinking that she and Sergio are having an affair. Esperanza asks her if indeed there is cause for Marimar to feel that way. Innocencia is quick to deny it, telling her that it was purely professional.

Marimar is having drinks with Kim. The kind woman who once helped her with her sick child seems keen in asking her about her life. How she’s been, how’s Cruzita, etc. Marimar tells Kim that her father just died and she’s been quite busy. Kim tells her she must feel very bad these days. Marimar shrugs off her woes telling Kim, “Parang manhid na ako sa lahat ng pangyayari. Nang maghiwalay kami ng asawa ko, sobrang lungkot ko. Wala akong ginawa kundi ang umiyak. Minsan nga naisip ko mamatay na lang ako.” (It seems like I’m now immune to all the pain. When my husband left me I was so unhappy. I was in so much pain that I even thought about ending my life.)

Kim asks for the ‘asshole’s’ name and Marimar simply replied, “Sergio.”

Back at the Aldama home, Esperanza relates that she did try and ask more from Marimar to share about her past but she seems keen on forgetting it especially when it concerns the father of Cruzita.

Innocencia shares to Esperanza, Marimar’s version of how Sergio and Marimar parted ways. Apparently Marimar found out that Sergio was just using her to make her ex-girlfriend jealous.

“Kawawa naman ang pamangkin ko,” sighs Esperanza after hearing Marimar’s sad and tragic tale from Innocencia. Fulgoso adds, “ako rin kawawa” being able to relate to how Fifi left him and went for an uglier pug.

Kim asks whether this Sergio is her daughter’s father. Marimar admits that he is. She also adds, “Wala akong minahal na lalaki kundi siya lang.” (I’ve never loved any man but Sergio alone.)

Kim probes, “Didn’t you love anyone else.” Marimar denies it saying it’s impossible. She also reveals, “Binigay ko ang lahat lahat sa kanya pero ginamit niya lang ako.” (I gave him everything but he only used me.)

“Anong ibig mong sabihin?” Kim asks Marimar to explain. Marimar tells her sad tale of how Sergio married her as bait to make his ex-girlfriend jealous and when they got back together, he left her.

Kim in her mind now realizes how fate had played an evil game on these two poor lovers, “Nagkakamali si Sergio. Hindi siya iniwan ni Marimar para sa ibang lalaki.” (Sergio is wrong in thinking that Marimar left him for another man.)

Speaking of Sergio, he drives by the same restaurant where Marimar and Kim are chatting and sees Kim’s red Mercedes. Antonio who is with him sees it too and they stop.

Esperanza continues her talk with Innocencia and nanay Leonor. She tells then, “Di lang pangalan ang dapat magbago, dapat si Bella ay maging kabaligtaran ni Marimar.” (Change shouldn’t be in name only but Bella should be the opposite of Marimar.) Her phone rings. It’s attorney Romualdez and she asks the lawyer to arrange for visas for Marimar, Cruzita and Innocencia as soon as possible.

Hearing her name included, Innocencia can’t help but feel excited and shares the look with her mother. Fulgoso hears about a trip and asks whether he is included.

Marimar tells Kim she’d been doing all the talking so far and asks about Kim’s updates. “Anong nangyari doon sa nililigawan mo?”

“Ayaw pa rin sa akin kasi gusto pa rin ang ex-wife niya.”

“Bakit di ka na lang maghanap ng iba?”

“Ayoko. Siya lang ang gusto ko.”

Kim’s expression suddenly changed from friendly and kind to calculating and rigid when Marimar asked about how her lovelife is faring.

Marimar admits to Kim, “Ang gaan ng loob ko sa iyo, “ how she finds it easy to talk to Kim especially about her lovelife. She wants Kim and her to become good friends. Kim also admits that she too finds Marimar easy to talk to and wants to keep their friendship.

Sergio and Antonio are now in the same restaurant looking around for signs of Kim. When they didn’t find her on the ground floor, both men agree to check upstairs. They find Kim sitting along but obviously with someone as another drink in one the table.

Sergio tells her they’ve been worried about her and asks, “Sino ba kasama mo?” who she is with. Kim jokes that it’s a secret. She adds that her meeting there is already finished and takes leave to go to the ladies room.

Sergio and Antonio are quite surprised at how secretive the multi-millionairess seems to be. They sit at a nearby table to wait for her. Sergio comments, “Parang may ayaw sabihin.” (Looks like she’s hiding something.)

“Baka naman ibang lalaki.”

“Sira ulo.”

“Baka nagseselos ka.”

Antonio teases Sergio that perhaps Kim is with another man and that perhaps Sergio is jealous but Sergio denies it. He asks the waiter for a menu instead.

Kim goes down to the ladies room and meets Marimar who is on her way out. Kim tells her that she has to go and that she has settled the bill for them.

Sergio orders food and Antonio realizes he’s out of cash. Sergio tells him not to worry, this meal is his treat.

“Bagay kayo ni Miss Kim, pareho kayong galante.”

“Pag narinig ni Kim yon, baka mapikon.”

“Kikiligin yon.”

Antonio kids Sergio that Kim and him are the same being both generous. Sergio cautions Antonio as his comments may upset Kim. He tells Sergio that on the contrary Kim will love it and he, Antonio, will be like the bridge that brought them together.

Sergio tells his friend that he doesn’t want Kim to keep any false hopes.

Marimar tells Kim that she is embarrased at how the latter seems to be footing for the bill. She tells Kim she has some money and would be willing to pay but Kim is adamant. She tells Marimar that she should be on her way.

Antonio forgot his cell phone in the car and is about to leave. Sergio asks him what he wants to eat and he quickly replies, “Steak” and adds, “masarap ang libre!” (Free food is often very delicious indeed!)

Marimar and Kim are outside waiting for Marimar’s driver to come pick her up. She thanks Kim and tells her again that she wants to keep their friendship going. Kim promises to contact her but now appears to be quite distracted. Marimar reminded her that she doesn’t have any cell phone. She asks for Kim’s number but Kim tells her that she knows where Marimar lives. If anything, she can easily come by and see her.

While they were talking, Antonio seems them and gasps in surpsise, “Hindi ako pwedeng magkamali, siya nga si Marimar!” He definitely recognizes Marimar from the photo Sergio showed him on his laptop.

Esperanza tells Leonor and Innocencia that Marimar and Cruzita should go to the US and start a new life there. Innocencia exclaims, “Naku napakalaking hakbang po niyan para kay Marimar kasi noong una siyang dumating dito sa Maynila, nahirapan talaga siyang mag-adjust sa buhay dito.”

Meantime silently and only in his head, Fulgoso is thinking about possible name-changes for himself. He says, ‘silver’ but decides that name would be more suitable for a horse; ‘Babe’ but quickly tosses it as it is the name of a pig.

Esperanza agrees that it would be quite difficult but if someone will be there to guide and help her niece, then it would be quite fruitful, “Madali lang kung may kaibigan na tutulong sa kanya.” She tells Innocencia that she will accompany Mariamar and Cruzita to the US.

Innocencia admits that this is a huge opportunity indeed and thanks Esperanza. She beams at her mother who also beams back. Esperanza thanks her in return for agreeing to her plan.

Kim really has to go so she and Marimar part. Marimar is standing by the curb, waiting for her drivier to arrive when Antonio who could no longer bear speculating why Marimar and Kim know each other, makes a move to approach Sergio’s wife.
Antonio calls her, asks for her name. Marimar is polite but unfriendly (so unlike the easygoing Marimar before) “Pasensiya ka na, di ako nakikipag-usap sa mga taong hindi ko kakilala.” (Sorry, I don’t talk to strangers.) Antonio keeps asking for her name but her driver arrives and Marimar leaves.

Antonio tries again, “Miss sandali lang, gusto ko lang malaman ang pangalan nyo.”

Marimar arrives home and Esperanza tells her that Innocencia and her mom are in their rooms resting.

Esperanza still calls her Marimar which prompts the young woman to remind her aunt that her name is now Bella. Esperanza tells Marimar about her plans of sending her and Cruzita to the US.

“Mag-aral ka. Magpakadalubhasa ka sa ngalan ng negosyo. Doon may pagkakataon ka ring ma-develop ang social skills mo.”

“Bakit lalayo pa, pwede naman dito.”

“But I want the best for you.”

Esperanza tells Bella that she will have a change of scenery which will only help her heal quickly and forget about her tragic past. It will help her forget about Marimar and become the new Bella.

Kim and Sergio are now in the office and are talking about an exhibit in Subic they want to join. Antonio seems to be preoccupied with something and doesn’t contribute to the conversation. He seems to be in deep thought.

When Sergio leaves the office, Kim teases Antonio, “Hoy, mukhang sa iyo napunta ang sakit ni Sergio noon ah.” (Looks like Sergio’s brooding illness has been transferred to you)

But Antonio confronts Kim. He tells her that she saw her with Sergio’s wife. He adds, “Ass a friend, I decided not to say anything to Sergio.”

Kim replies, “Di ko sinasadyang magkita kami ni Marimar. I guess fate decided to play a cruel trick on us.”

Antonio prods her to tell Sergio but Kim is against it. She reasons, “para ano, para guluhin lang pa si Sergio. He’s finally moving on, and Marimar is happy. She doesn’t need Sergio anymore.”

Marimar asks her aunt how long does she plan for them to be in America. Esperanza gives between 4 to 5 years. She assures her niece that Cruzita will be with her and that from time to time, she too will visit them. Although she wouldn’t be able to stay for long as she has to make sure that their businesses are doing well. She also tells Marimar that Innocencia will accompany her. She finds Innocencia quite smart and would be a big help to Marimar in their new life in the US.

Antonio argues that Sergio has the right to know. Kim stubbornly declines. Antonio asks, “Karapatan ba nila ang iniisip mo o ang sarili mo?” (Perhaps Kim doesn’t want to tell Sergio because she is protecting her own interests)

Kim is blunt to retort, “If you walue our friendship, hindi mo sasabihin kay Sergio. Mahal ko si Sergio.”

Marimar asks Esperanza to give her some time to think things over. Many things have happened to fast, too soon and she’s not prepared. Esperanza reminds her that she is doing this for her sake, for her own good.

“Gusto ko pagbalik mo dito, may kumpiyansa ka na sa sarili mo, may pinag-aralan ka at maipagyayabang na kita sa buong mundo bilang si Bella Aldama.” (I want you to return here full of self-confidence, educated and I can finally proudly introduce you to the world as Bella Aldama)

Sergio is in his office drinking, he calls Marimar’s name. Antonio looks at his friend self destruct and tells him to stop what he is doing. Sergio tells him to leave him alone as he throws a bottle and it breaks. Kim sees them talking and Antonio knows she is watching how painful all this is to Sergio, not knowing where Marimar is.

“Pinipilit ko siyang kalimutan pero di ko kaya. Ayaw ko na!” Sergio cries. Antonio gives an accusing look to Kim who looks equally guilty.

Esperanza instructs a maid to keep Gustavo’s room cleaned daily despite him being gone. Marimar comes to her and tells her that she has decided to agree to Esperanza’s plans and go to America but she wants to take Fulgoso along with her. Esperanza tells her it may be difficult as he doesn’t have any documents. But Marimar insists that she and Fulgoso have never been apart. He’s been her staunchest ally and loyal friend. Esperanza understands and promises to do all she can so Marimar can bring Fulgoso along. Fulgoso jumps for joy and aunt and niece embrace.

Sergio is driving and is trying to call the office when he sees a man being bullied by three thugs. He stops and helps the man. The goons tell him to keep out of it and are about to pick on him too when he pretend to have a gun he is about to pull. The thugs run away.

When they’re gone, Sergio pulls out a hankie instead (cute!) and helps the fallen victim. It is none other than....Arturo.

Esperanza tells Marimar that all the paperwork has been done and ready. She notices how silent her niece is and asks whether she has changed her mind. Marimar says, “no.”

Sergio is happy to find Arturo. They update each other about their lives since San Martin dela Costa and Arturo reveals many things to Sergio. First he apologises for his gender orientation which Sergio gallantly brushes off. “Kaibigan ang turing ko sa iyo. Kahit ano pa ang pagkatao mo, tatanggapin ko.”

“Lalo tuloy ako nagi-guilty niya sa inyo eh. Nag laki ng kasalanan ko sa inyo pati na rin kay Marimar.”

He reveals how Angelika intercepted all the phone calls, messages and packages he sent for Marimar even confiscating the cell phone including his own. He blames Sergio’s ex-girlfriend for doing everything to prevent Sergio and Marimar from having any contact and thus kept separated.

Sergio asks, “Kaya ba siya sumama kay Choi?”

Antonio tells him that Choi ran away with Natalia. They left even before Marimar left San Martin dela Costa.

Antonio also tells his childhood friend, “Hanggang sa kahu-hulihan, ramdam ko ang pagmamahal ni Marimar sa iyo.”

Marimar Episode 50

Marimar Episode 50 – The one where Gustavo dies; Marimar is Bella Aldama

Marimar listens to Gustavo transferring all his earthly possessions to his sole heir, his daughter, her – Marimar. She tells her father, “Tay, hindi ko naman kailangan ang kayamanan mo. Itay kailangan ko ikaw. Makasama kita. Makasama ka namin ni Cruzita....yun lang.” (Father, I don’t need your fortunes. I need you. To be with you. For Cruzita and me to be with you, that’s all I need.)

Gustavo tells his daughter, “Kahit anong mangyari sa akin, maisiguro ko na ikaw, anak ko, ay magkaroon ng magandang kinabukasan.” (Whatever happens to me, I’ve made sure that you, my child, will have a good future.)

Marimar continues to feel saddened despite having a secured future, she comments, “Aanhin ko lahat ng ito? Hindi ko kailangan...ikaw lang itay!” (What would I do with all these? I don’t need it...only you father!)

Gustavo explains to her, “Ito lang ang tanging paraan na maipadama ko sa iyo ang pagmamahal ko.” (This is the only way that I can make you feel just how much I love you.)

He signs the papers. Attorney Romualdez talks to Gustavo and adds that all she needs to do now is to have the documents notarized for them to be legal. Marimar doesn’t really care for such concerns. She just hugs her father tightly.

Meanwhile Miss Kim Chan has reached the point where she has revealed just how non-human her annoyingly screeching voice is. Kim continues to get bitchy about Sergio. “Hayop na Sergio yon! Ikaw lang ang minahal ko ng ganito! Bakit di mo ko mahalin? Si Marimar pa rin ang laman ng puso niya. Di ko kayang mawala si Sergio. Di ko hahayaang magkita muli si Sergio at Marimar.” (That son of a b_tch, Sergio! You are the only one I’ve loved like this. Why can’t you love me back? Until now your heart wants Marimar. I can’t bear to lose Sergio. I will never allow Sergio and Marimar to find each other again.)

Antonio tries to calm her down telling her that he’ll have her accompanied to her suite but she lashes out on Antonio now that Sergio has walked out on her. The poor guy just wanted to make sure she is okay but she sends him away as well. Kim now screams at anyone who even looks at her, including other guests of the bar. She also breaks some bottles and topples over some furniture, how embarrassing!

Antonio catches up with Sergio and tries to defend Kim’s side. “Alam ko nasaktan ka sa sinabi ni Kim kanina. Nakainom lang ang tao, pagpasensiyahan mo na.” (I know you were upset by what Kim said earlier. She just had too much too drink, I hope you understand.) Sergio tells Antonio that is the reason why he just left, “Kaya nga umalis na lang ako eh.”

Antonio continues to defend Kim, reminding Sergio of the many good things she has done for the both of them, especially to Sergio who benefited the most. Sergio didn’t quite like this statement, implying that he is somewhat an opportunist. “Anong ibig mong sabihin, manggagamit ako?” He asks Antonio whether this is what he is trying to tell him. Antonio adds that even if he is not a user, and whether it was not his intention to take advantage of Kim, still he did gain a lot from her. “Pinakinabangan mo rin naman ng husto ang babae.”

Sergio returns the spiteful remark to Antonio as he pointedly asks him what his role is in all this, whether he is Kim’s pimp. “Ano ka ba ni Kim? Bugaw?”

Choosing to be silent than to let both their angers flare and lead to worse arguments, Antonio chose to leave Sergio alone.

Marimar cries as she takes her father’s hand in hers and puts it gently on her face. The lawyer leaves them after assuring Gustavo that she will serve his family as well as she did him.

Gustavo then calls Esperanza and she quickly came at her cousin’s side. She too had been crying feeling the end quite at hand. Gustavo tells her to take care of Marimar and Cruzita when he is gone. He is sure that she would be able to guide them properly, “Tiwala ako sa iyo na gagabayan mo sila.” He also thanks her for all she’s done for him. “Salamat. Ikaw ang naging sandalan ko nung mga panahong kailangan ko. Kung ano man ang kasalanan ko sa iyo, sana’y mapatawad mo ako.” Esperanza had been his source of strength in the times he needed one. He asks her for her forgiveness for whatever wrong he may have done.

Esperanza is quick to reply, “Ako dapat humingi ng tawag sa iyo. At salamat din.” that she is in fact the one who should be asking for his forgiveness. She also thanks him for his generosity and kindness.

One last request Gustavo asks of Esperanza, “Gusto ko magpakatatag ka para kay Marimar.” (I want you to be strong for the sake of Marimar.) Esperanza nods her head in solemn promise.

Gustavo calls Marimar to his side again. He says, “Anak ano man ang mangyari sa akin, gusto ko matatag ka. Tanggapin mong maluwag sa puso mo.” (Child, whatever it is that may happen to me, I want you to be strong. Accept it all with no bitterness in your heart.)

Marimar doesn’t want to think about her father dying. She insists, “Tay, gagaling pa po kayo. Aalagaan ko po kayo. Tay, hindi pa po ako handang mawala kayo!” (Father you are going to get well. I will take good care of you. Father, I’m not ready to lose you!)

Gustavo knows what Marimar is feeling. He does feel the same but he knows too that his time has come. He tells her, “Patawarin mo ako, hindi ko gustong mawala sa iyo. Ayusin mo ang buhay mo. Mag-aral ka. Magsikap ka sa buhay. Ikaw ang magpapatuloy ng negosyo natin.” (Forgive me, I do not want to leave you. Improve your life. Study. Work hard. You will be the one to lead and be in charge of our business.)

But Marimar is oblivious to all these, all she wants is to be able to spend more time with his father. “Tay kailangan ko po kayo. Di ko kayang mawala kayo.” She continues to tells him she needs him and can’t bear to lose him.
Gustavo encourages his daughter for the last time, “Kaya mo yan. Maraming sumusuporta sa iyo. Kahit wala na ako, andito lang ako sa tabi mo.” (You can do it. There are many who will help you. Even if I am no longer here, I will always be by your side.)

Gustavo flatlines. Esperanza and Marimar register alarm on their faces. Medics come and both nurses and doctors revive Gustavo. They use CPR and electric shock to revive him over and over again. Finally, a doctor tells both women that Gustavo is gone. They have done everything they could but still he does not respond. Gustavo is dead. Marimar and Esperanza’s tears run freely, pain visible in their faces.

Sergio is in his car. (For the first time in this whole series, he is in tears.) In his mind, he is saying, “Kahit anong gawin ko, hindi kita makalimutan. Marimar bakit hindi mo ako hinintay? Sinabi ko naman sa iyo, babalikan kita. Hanggang kailan ako ganito? Hanggang kailan kita hahanapin? Hanggang kailan ko pagbabayaran ang mga pagkakamali ko? Hanggang kailan kita mamahalin. Sergio cries. (Why is it that whatever I do, I cannot forget you. Why didn’t you wait for me Marimar? I told you then that I will return for you. Until when would I be like this? Until when would I keep looking for you? Until when would I continue to pay for all my mistakes? Until when would I keep loving you?)

Marimar calls out, “Itay!” as doctors confirm Gustavo’s death. Esperanza hugs Marimar to restrain her for doing any more that may hurt her. She gets away from Esperanza grasps and goes to her lifeless father. She hugs him and cries.

Innocencia is in the waiting area, carrying baby Cruzita. Esperanza is the first one to come out of the emergency room and tells Innocencia about their loss. Esperanza takes Cruzita from her and tells the baby, Cruzita, wala na ang lolo mo.” (Cruzita, your grandfather is gone.) After a while Marimar joins them and Innocencia offers her condolences to her friend and her friend’s aunt. “Nakikiramay ako.”

Esperanza and Marimar sit as if tired from something so horrible. Marimar tells her aunt to take charge of all the arrangements required for the burial. “Kayo na po bahala sa libing ni Itay. Gusto ko sana tahimik yung seremonyas.” (I want a quite ceremony).

Esperanza assures her that she will take care of everything. “Wag kang magalala, aayusin ko lahat.” She cautions Marimar about her wish to have a quite ceremony as Gustavo is quite a well-known businessman. “Kilalang businessman ang iyong ama. Baka di maging pribado ang seremonya.” Esperanza fears the event may not be quite private.

But Marimar insists she wants a simple, quiet ceremony with only those who truly love Gustavo invited. “Gusto ko, mga taong totoong nagmamahal lang sa kanya ang dadalo sa libing niya.” Marimar begins to cry again as Esperanza hugs and comforts her.

It is a fair day for Gustavo’s burial ceremony. We flashback to Gustavo’s last words and conversations with Esperanza and Marimar. Esperanza is in a pretty black dress and a matching short rimmed and feathered hat. Marimar is in a simple black dress with lace for sleeves. Innocencia is wearing a simple black sleeveless mini-dress while baby Cruzita is in white.

Marimar tells her child to say her farewell to her grandfather, “Anak magpaalam ka na sa lolo Gustavo mo. Alam ko na kahit di tayo matagal na nagkasama, patuloy niya tayong mamahalin kasama ng lola Lupita mo.” (Wherever he may be, he continues to love us along with your grandmother, Lupita)

We flashback to Gustavo and Marimar talking about his last will and testament. Marimar told him she doesn’t want or need it. Gustavo insisted, “Pinagkait sa iyo ng tadhana...ang mga di mo nakuha noon, maaari mo nang makamit ngayon.” (Whatever destiny has taken from you, you can now take it back.)

Marimar tells her father on his grave, “Itay, kinuha kayo agad sa akin ng tadhana. Di ko alam kung bakit pero tatanggapin ko iyon. Di ko papahiyain ang pangalang Aldama dahil ipinangako ko sa iyo gagawin ko ang lahat para mapatunayan ko na karapat-dapat ako bilang anak ninyo. Kung saan man kayo ngayon, Itay, mahal na mahal ko po kayo. Itay!” (You’ve been taken from me quite early by fate. I don’t know the reason but I accept it. I will not shame the name Aldama as I promised you that I will prove myself worthy to be called your daughter. Wherever you are now, I love you very much, father.)

Everyone, even Fulgoso drops flowers on Gustavo’s grave. Marimar sits before the dug grave.

Innocencia is ironing some clothes and her mother is neatly piling them on the bed ready to be placed in their closet. They talk about Marimar being such a big heiress and all and are very happy that she has come to good fortunes. Inay declares Marimar to be quite lucky with Gustavo being a rich man.

Innocencia adds, “Sa daming pinagdaanan ni Marimar, mabuti naman at may magandang nangyari sa buhay niya.” (After all she’s been through at least one good thing has come out of all this tragedy.) She tells her mother that Marimar is the type of person who is not after money. All she really wants is to be with the people she loves. That’s how simple she is and not at all materialistic.

Sergio talks to Kim. The young man apologizes as did the lady. Kim flirts by asking him, “Kiss and make up?” But Sergio is past all this and tells her, “Kim let’s not play games anymore.”

Esperanza and Marimar are at home. Esperanza is leaving to meet Attorney Romualdez who will help choose a president for their corporation whilst Marimar isn’t ready to head it yet. She also intends to pass by the cemetery. Marimar wants to come along and Esperanza asks her whether she wants to change first but Marimar quickly looks at her clothes and announces they are clean so she can go without need for a change of clothes.

As they were leaving, they open the door and are hounded by a bunch pf press people who have managed to get inside the gate and onto the main foyer. Esperanza asks for the maid to call the guards while Marimar hides behind her.
Esperanza tells the press that they will issue a formal statement about the demise of Gustavo Aldama soon, but asks them to be patient as the family is still grieving. With this she dismisses them and asks Marimar to stay indoors for a while to wait for the security to usher them out of the premises.

Sergio tells Kim that he may have made her wait, made her somehow expect something so he is sorry. He tells her that he wants so much to fall in love with her but he cannot because he still loves Marimar. He doesn’t want her to wait for him. His relationship with Marimar doesn’t have closure. Kim asks him, “Kapag ba nakita mo si Marimar na hindi ka na niya mahal at masaya na siya sa lalaking sinamahan niya, magiging sigurado ka na?” (What if you saw Marimar and she tells you she doesn’t love you anymore and that she is already happy with the man she ran away with, would you have closure then?)

Sergio confirms that by then “tutuldukan ko na ang relasyon namin at magmo-move one na ako.”

Fulgoso hopes the press people are still around and makes a pose. The guard returns with films from the press’ cameras and videos. Esperanza assures Marimar that none of them will release any photo or video of her as anyone who would will definitely get a lawsuit. Marimar is now very conscious of being deemed a simpleton and be laughed at. She doesn’t want to appear naive and innocent now that she is an Aldama. She says, “Ayaw kong maging mangmang. Ayaw kong pagtawanan ako ng mga tao.” Fulgoso adds, “Bakit ka naman pagtatawanan eh di ka naman payaso?” (Why would they laugh at you, you’re not a clown?)

Marimar decides to become Bella Aldama. Esperanza asks her whether she is sure about dropping the name Marimar. She tells her aunt, “Matagal nang patay si Marimar. Ako na si Bella Aldama.” (Marimar is long dead, I am now Bella Aldama.) Esperanza tells Bella, “If that’s what you want...ok.”

Fulgoso tells her, “Pwede pa rin ba kitang tawaging Marimar? Siguro nga pwede kasi di mo naman ako naririnig eh. hehehehe!” (May I still continue to call you Marimar? Perhaps it’s OK since you can’t really hear me! hehehe)

Antonio talks to Sergio. “Galit ka pa ba?” (Are you still mad at me?) Sergio shakes his head, “Wala ka naman sinabing di totoo eh?” (Everything you said was the truth.) Antonio is happy they are friends again and adds, “Well, there’s always a better way of saying things...” to let Sergio know that he too felt bad about their rift and asks for forgiveness. Sergio tells him he was angry at him at first but later on realized that everything Antonio said was correct. He stares at his laptop’s screen which shows a picture of Marimar. Antonio sees it too. Sergio closes his laptop and tells his friend, “This time handa na ako. I’m moving on.”

Marimar Episode 49

Marimar Episode 49 – The one where Kim has had enough of Sergio (her shrill voice is almost non-human!)

Gustavo clutches his heart as he falls to the ground and Esperanza buffering his fall as she cries out his name, fearing the worst for her cousin whose heart condition is weak and problematic.

Innocencia gets a firm hold of the falling pram and took Cruzita safely in her arms.

Natalia pointing the gun at Marimar intends to end it here and now but the police shoot her and she receives mortal wounds in the stomach and chest. Natalia falls to the ground as Marimar notices her father fall. The latter screams her father’s name while the former lies on the floor. Natalia looks beside her and sees her dead sister is lying beside her too. Finally, the two are united in the afterlife.

Sergio arrives at the gate and makes his way through the crowd gathered of mostly press people wanting to get inside. But the guard by the gate is not letting anyone in. He reasons that he knows Natalia and wants to speak with her but still wasn’t allowed to get through. He decides to return to their company party.

Marimar sees Gustavo being carried onto an ambulance and taken to the hospital. She cries out to her father, fearing his heart had given up.

As Sergio is on his way back to the party, he receives a call from Kim who is sounding a bit upset demanding where he went. He tells her that he is on his way back and ends the call.

Antonio asks what Sergio told Kim as the rich young divorcee snaps her phone off. She tells Antonio that Sergio’s just gone off to see an old friend. She is certain that friend has something to do with Marimar.

Gustavo is lying unconscious in a hospital stretcher bound to the emergency room. They share the room together, her with the shoulder wound from the gun and him with his failing heart. Marimar cries and wants to be beside Gustavo. She tells everyone to care for him first. She keeps crying, “Itay!” (Kulit ni Marimar! She should just pray and let the doctors do what they can, hirap nya gamutin sa likot nya, para shang di nasa critical condition...)

Esperanza runs to Marimar’s side to comfort her and the elder woman tells her that doctors are making sure Gustavo is fine. She calms the young woman down telling Marimar that the doctors need to fix her too as she has already lost a lot of blood. Marimar just continues to cry, “Tatay ko.” They give Marimar a shot that would calm her so they can operate on her. Once sedated, Esperanza transfers to the other side of the curtain. She cries as she sees doctors busy reviving Gustavo.

Kim is rather upset with the fact that after all this time, Sergio is still occupied by his love for his wife. “Hanggang ngayon talaga di pa rin makalimutan ni Sergio ang kanyang nakaraan.”

Antonio tells her to give Sergio more time. Kim exasperated tells Antonio that, “It’s been a year and a half already! May hangganan din naman ako!”

Antonio asks Kim whether she is already giving up on Sergio and Kim tells him straight, “I don’t like losing lalo na marami na rin naman ang isinugal ko.”

Antonio tells Kim that it is indeed difficult especially when you cannot really equate love to a gamble. There is not one method to ensure success. Besides, Antonio reminds her, another difficulty is that she doesn’t know who she’s up against.

Kim in her mind tells Antonio that he is wrong. She does know who her rival is and this what she will use to win Sergio.

Innocencia and her mother are left the task of caring for baby Cruzita for a while since Marimar is in hospital undergoing an operation and Esperanza is looking after two patients both with life-threatening conditions. Innocencia and her mother are practically the closest family Cruzita has at this scary times. (Since Sergio doesn’t know he has such a cute daughter.)

Mother and daughter wish Marimar is now out of the woods and recovering. They reason, “Kasi kawawa naman si Cruzita. Halos ulila na nga sa ama tapos mawawalan pa ng nanay.” That would be too tragic. Both women agree that the best recourse is to pray. Fulgoso who is in the same room is listening and also worried for his hurt mistress.

Antonio tells Sergio that Kim passed by but got bored waiting for him that she left. Sergio’s mind is no longer in the conversation as he keeps thinking about Natalia and his foreboding that something bad is happening and yet he doesn’t know what it is. He tells this to his friend, “Kanina pa may kaba sa dibdib ko. Di ko mapaliwanag pero malakas and kutob ko na nasa panganib si Marimar.”

Antonio tells him that he’s just paranoid, “Pranning ka lang. Worrying over nothing.” This prompts Sergio to snap at his friend, why is he always arguing with him the opposite of what he is saying. “Bakit ba lagi kang kontra?”

But Antonio has a point, even if he worries all day, how can he help her? “Pero paano mo siya matutulungan kung nasa peligro nga siya?” He advises Sergio to just pray.

Policemen approach Esperanza who is alone sitting by the waiting area. She is obviously in grave distress and yet the men want her to recount what had happened so they can complete their report. Esperanza is miffed, can’t they see she is still in shock with two lives on the line? “Hintayin nyo naman magamot ang pinsan at pamangkin ko bago nyo ako hingian ng statement.” Realizing their insensitivity, the men withdraw and agree to get her statement at a more convenient time.

As they leave, Esperanza gets up and walks to the nearby chapel. She kneels and prays for help. She sighs at the absurdity of it all, “Kung kailan naman nagkita na si Gustavo at Marimar, ganito naman ang nangyari. Parehong nasa bingit ng kamatayan and mag-ama.”

Esperanza’s phone rings and it is Innocencia eager for some update on Marimar’s condition. She tells the younger woman on the other line that both father and daughter are still in critical condition and both are being operated on at this time. She asks about Cruzita and Innocencia assures her that the baby is fine and she must not worry. Esperanza thanks Innocencia and promises to call her as soon as there are any updates.

After Marimar and Gustavo’s operation Marimar is quickly on the mend. (Lakas talaga ng pangontra ni Marimar sa bala! Makahingi nga rin kay Padre Porres nung medallion ni Mama Mary...hehehe) Wearing matching pink hospital gowns, Marimar and Esperanza visit Gustavo who is now in a separate room. Marimar comes to his father and touches his hair. She tells him that she’s been wanting to come and see him but they wouldn’t allow her in. She asks her father how he is feeling, “Kumusta na po kayo?”

Gustavo is happy to see Marimar alive. He tells her “Ngayon nandito ka na sa tabi ko, mas ayos na ako,” now that she is beside him, he feels so much better.

Marimar tells him to be strong and try to get better quickly. She needs him she says and also Cruzita. She tells Gustavo, “Kailangan kayo ng apo ninyo. Aalagaan ko po kayong mabuti. Hindi ako aalis sa tabi ninyo hanggang hindi kayo maayos.”

Gustavo replies, “Ang swerte ko na nagkaroon ako ng anak na katulad mo” that he is lucky to have a child like her.

Marimar tells him to get better, “Pagaling kayo.”

Gustavo regrets, “Sayang ang mga taong nakalipas” they have wasted so much time in the past.

Marimar is positive, “Bumawi na lang tayo. Pagaling kayo para makapag-umpisa tayo muli.” and tells her father about days they will spend together, talking, telling stories, going to the park with Cruzita and Esperanza, and of course Fulgoso.

Gustavo closes his eyes as if in pain and begins to cry.

Marimar tells her father how she feels, “Mahal na mahal po kita.”

A nurse calls the attention of Marimar reminding her that the patient must not be under too much stress thus can only be spoken or visited for as long as 30 minutes at a time. She gently advises Marimar to allow time for her father to rest. Wiping her tears, she nods her head in agreement. She gives Gustavo a gentle kiss on his forehead and tells him to get some rest.

Meantime Esperanza is talking with the doctor who tells her that there is no other way for Gustavo's life to be prolonged, "Wala na bang paraan para humaba ang buhay niya?" The doctor is grim with his reply that there is indeed no other solution but by having Gustavo undergo a heart transplant. He needs a heart donor quickly but with the long waiting list and the many procedures required to acquire a compatible heart with a patient, the one solution is almost next to impossible. The doctor honestly told her that it would take short of a miracle to find a heart donor that is also a perfect match to Gustavo's needs and genetic makeup.

With this heavy news, she tells Marimar who is still in Gustavo's room but this time from a distance, as she watches her ailing father sleep. Marimar immediately agrees with her aunt, to do every possible way to get a transplant. However Esperanza told her that there's a long wait list and they are not even in the priority for a heart donor. Marimar thought of giving her own heart if this means saving her father's life.

Marimar decides to give her heart to Gustavo. "Ibibigay ko po ang puso ko kay Itay, tiya Esperanza" (Haller, alam ba ni Marimar na ang tao kapag walang puso wala na ring buhay?)

Esperanza tells her Gustavo will not allow it. "Hindi papayag ang papa mo."

Marimar asks her aunt to persuade Gustavo. "Tia Esperanza, pilitin mo siyang pumayag."

Esperanza insists, "Siguradong hindi papayag ang papa mo. Isa pa mahaba ang proseso ng test" and adds that the procedure could take a long time.

Marimar doesn’t mind, "Walang problema, pa-test ninyo ako" and insists to take the tests necessary. (Ah eh, Marimar, alam mo hija, kung gusto mo makasama tatay mo, dapat siguro buhay kayo pareho, hindi yung isa sa inyo matitigok at ikaw yon dahil igi-give up mo yung puso mo para sa kanya.)

In the bar they frequent, Sergio arrives and sees Antonio at the bar. He sits beside Antonio who is surprised to see him. Sergio simply replies, "Hindi ako makatulog eh" and orders one beer. Kim who has been dancing with a bottle of beer in one hand comes up to them and asks where her's is (meaning her beer as the one she is holding is empty after one gulp). She tells Sergio, "Sabi ko na nga ba hindi mo ako matitiis. I was getting so lonely without you." Sergio tells her to take it easy as she obviously had quite a lot already but she shrugs off his concern for her and insists on her beer. Kim asks Sergio to go and dance with her. Sergio makes her sit down and orders water for her. He adds, "Maybe coming down here is not a good idea after all."

Gustavo is against Marimar's suggestion of her giving up her heart for him. He tells his daughter, "Ligtas ako pero paano ikaw, Marimar? Si Cruzita, hindi pwedeng mawalan ng magulang. Matanda na ako, pabayaan mo na ako." He cannot bear to live knowing his own daughter gave up her own life for him. Besides he is old now and little Cruzita would need a parent more than he would need a new heart. He also adds, "Kay tagal kong inasam na makita ka, matawag na anak. Tapos pwede na akong mamatay." He has longed for the time to come that he will finally find his daughter, call her "my child" and then after that he will be at peace, ready to face the afterlife.

But Marimar isn't ready to lose another loved one. She asks him to promise her that he will do his best to get better. "Ipangako mo sa akin Tay na gagaling kayo."

Gustavo does not answer her the way she expects but tells her instead, "Di ko kaya mabuhay kapalit and buhay mo." He asks for baby Cruzita to be taken to him, if possible.

Kim flares up at Sergio's comment. She screams (and painfully so!), "I'm throwing myself at you. Pero anong ginagawa mo? Wala! Ayaw mo ba sa akin? Di ba ako maganda? Sexy? Siguro bakla ka. Kaya ka siguro iniwan ng asawa mo; sigurado dahil bakla ka!" She is totally at the end of her rope telling Sergio that despite all her advances he still didn't do anything. Isn't she pretty enough or sexy enough for him? Or maybe, Sergio is gay - that's why his wife left him? After all these unfair outbursts, all Sergio could say at the end is "Tapos ka na?" (Are you done?) and walks out. This makes Kim even all the more explosive as she screams Sergio's name. She breaks down crying and lashing at everyone around her.

Marimar brings Cruzita to her grandfather. The sweet baby is asleep and Gustavo kisses her on the forehead. He tells the baby, "Apo ko, Cruzita, mahal na mahal kita." He then asks Esperanza to go and call the attorney who came in after a few minutes in similar pink hospital gown with some papers and a pen. Esperanza takes Cruzita from Marimar as the lawyer and Marimar await Gustavo's instructions. Attorney Romualdez is set to transfer everything - all land, properties, businesses including the huge Aldama Enterprises - to Marimar, his sole heir.

Marimar continues to cry, unable to smile at her good, multi-billion fortune. (Aow!)

Marimar Episode 48

Marimar Episode 48 - The one where Bella is declared as the real Marimar

Sergio is in his room. He is feeling quite lonely as he goes to his laptop and looks at pictures of Marimar and himself during happier times. He is still wondering whether he did see his wife or if his loneliness and need to see her had just played tricks on him, "Ikaw ba talaga ang nakita ko o namamalik malang lang ako? Pinapaniwala ko lang ba ang sarili ko na ikaw nga iyon? Nandito ka nga ba sa Maynila?" Sergio wonders whether Marimar is really in Manila, He wants to see her so much nut wonders whether Marimar wants to see him back. "Gusto mo ba ko makita?"

He looks at his wedding ring and calls out a desperate message to his wife, that he wants to see her and be with her. "Marimar nahihirapan na ako. Di ko na alam ang gagawin ko. Isa lang ang gusto kong mangyari: magkaharap tayo muli."

Kim who saw Marimar and Cruzita pass by is fighting within herself whether she is going to call out to Marimar or not. "Anong sasabihin ko sa kanya? Na kilala ko si Sergio? Paano kung gusto niyang balikan si Sergio?" If she would approach her nemesis, what would she say? Would she reveal to her that she knows Sergio? And what would she do if she found out that Marimar would still want Sergio back?

Fifi had been looking for Fulgoso for over a week. She is also quite hungry. She sees a saucy-looking dog complete with a bone paraphernalia. She admits the dog is quite an ugly pug but she is more interested in his bone than his looks so she goes and sits beside the rich-looking mutt.

Kim has decided not to tell Marimar or Sergio of what she knows about them. She has thought it through and knows that she will only complicate matters if she should tell about each of them to the other. (Besides, she is more likely only protecting her own interests in keeping Sergio to herself.)

Fulgoso arrives with flowers for Fifi. He's accompanied his mistress who has decided to stay with Innocencia and her mother whilst awaiting for the DNA results. Baby Cruzita and Marimar are already well ahead of him but he stopped to pick flowers for his beloived Fifi who is left in Innocencia's home and care. But Fulgoso sees the ugly pug beside Fifi and demands who he is, "Fifi sino siya? Sino yang aso na iyan?" (Sus seloso din pala itong si Fulgoso, di lang pala si Marimar ang possessive!) Fifi tries to explain, "Fulgoso, this is not what it looks like," but Fulgoso has already ran away. Fifi calls, "Please let me explain, sandali." But Fulgoso is gone. (Ay sus, pati pala nga dogs may LQ rin!)

Gustavo implores the help and guidance of his dead wife to help him find the true Marimar. "Nalilito ako. Di know na alam kung anong gagawin ko." He tells her that between Natalia and Bella, who should he choose? Who is their real child? He wishes his wife is still alive and with him at this very trying moment, "Sana nandito ka."

Natalia talks to a man who is key in ensuring that the DNA results will reveal her as the real Marimar. She tells him she is willing to pay whatever is necessary, "Name your price," to show the results as her bearing the Aldama genes.

Marimar is learning to read as Innocencia teaches her and Inay (both Innocencia and Marimar call Innocencia's mother, 'inay') is looking after baby Cruzita. Marimar is a very diligent student and Innocencia seems happy at the progress her friend has made.

Back at the Aldama home, Gustavo and Esperanza meets the medical team who did the DNA testing. Esperanza breathes a sigh of relief to her cousin, "Sa wakas Gustavo, malalaman na rin natin ang katotohanan," telling him that at last they'd be able to finally know the trurth. The doctor hands Gustavo a sealed envelop. He opens it and reads. Suddenly he stares out in disbelief, "hindi." Esperanza alaramed as her cousin's reaction asks him what the problem is, "Anong problema?"

Marimar falls back into the routine at Innocencia's home and she is sweeping the floor, helping the kind mother and daughter keep their home clean. She talks to Innocencia that she hopes to find out the results of the DNA test as soon as possible. She has some doubts, even to the point of believing that maybe Natalia is indeed Gustavo's child. But in her memory, she knows she is right. Innocencia tells her not to doubt, she is in the right.

Marimar asks Innocencia why Gustavo can't accept her as his daughter. Why give in to the doubts instead of the call of their hearts that indeed they are father and daughter. She wishes her loving grandparents, Pancho and Cruz were still alive. They were very loving and supportive of her, no matter what. Then Marimar remembers the time when they were still alive. We flashback to a scene when Pancho and Cruz are speculating about the gender of Marimar's child. Cruz declares any gender will be acceptable so long as it is a fair-faced as the mother, "Basta kamukha mo lang, okey na sa akin yon. Ipangako mo lang na kapag babae, ipangalan mo sa akin." Cruz asked Marimar to name the child after her if it is a girl and Marimar immediately agreed. (This gives us more background as to why Marimar decided to call her baby, Cruzita.)

Back to reality, Marimar tells Innocencia how she wished both are still alive to at least alleviate some of the loneliness she is feeling right now. She declares they had always been her staunch supporters, "Kakampi sa lahat ng bagay."

Innocencia reminds her friend that altough her grandparents are no longer with her, she is there for her and that she is her friend and ally too. "Kakampi mo rin ako Marimar. Nandito lang ako para sa iyo."

Just then Flor arrives and tells Marimar that Senor Gustavo has asked her to fetch them as the results of the DNA has arrived. Marimar suddenly felt nervous but Innocencia told her to be strong and that she should not worry because she holds the truth, "Huwag kang matakot. Hawak mo ang katotohanan. Sa DNA test na yan mapapatunayan na isa lang Aldama," and the DNA test will confirm that she is the real Aldama heir.

Fulgoso and Fifi now say their goodbyes. Fifi tells her dogfriend that he has not even spoken a word to her in a week. Now they are about to part ways again. Fulgoso only tells FIfi , "Goodbye salawahang aso ko." (Farewell to you my two-timing dog.) He leaves Fifi in tears.

Kim is staking out Marimar's home which unknown to her is actually Innocencia's home. She sees Innocencia accompany Marimar and Cruzita to a vehicle. Innocencia waves goodbye and the car leaves. Kim follows in her own car. Sergio calls her on her cellphone asking where she is. They have a meeting and the young man wants her to be there with the team. Kim tells Sergio she is pursuing a project. Sergio asks her whether she is just trying to avoid him. Unable to decline to Sergio's whims, she ends the call with her agreement to attend the meeting and even asks Sergio, "Happy now?" as she cuts the call and Sergio prepares to leave his room.

Marimar carrying baby Cruzita arrives at the Aldama home. Esperanza and Gustavo meet her but both hold generic expression on their faces. Esperanza gives her an encouraging smile as the older woman takes Cruzita from her. Marimar stands facing Gustavo and Natalia arrives taunting how the trouble-maker is back at her home. "At nagbalik ang intrimidera. Ano Bella, manggugulo ka na naman ba sa bahay namin?"

Marimar cuts her telling Natalia she is not her to fight, "Hindi ako makikipag-away sa iyo Natalia." The psychotic impostor tells Marimar that she is sure that despite not having any fights, Marimar would still come out as the loser. "Kahit di ka makikipagaway, sigurado akong talo ka."

Gustavo tells both women that now they're both here and he is ready to reveal the DNA results. Marimar looks anxious and Natalia looks quite confident. Gustavo tells them that the results are clear. "99.5 per cent match." Natalia comes to Gustavo's side and takes his arm saying she is his child, "Papa ako ang tunay mong anak." But Gustavo disproves her statement, "Nagkakamali ka Natalia." She feigns surprise and puzzlement, "Anong ibig ninyong sabihin?"

Gustavo now shows an angered and betrayed face to the impostor who has fooled him for quite sometime, even causing his real child and granddaughter harm, "Hindi ikaw ang tunay kong anak, niloloko mo lang ako!" Finally caught at her game, Natalia continues to deny it, "Hindi maari, ako si Marimar. Papa, ako ang tunay mong anak."

"Hindi kita tunay na anak," Gustavo is adamant. "Kundi si Bella, " looking at Bella for the first time and with eyes full of tenderness and love, "Siya ang tunay na Aldama." He goes to his long, lost daughter and embraces her. Marimar is speechless and in tears but at last happy that the truth has finally come out.

Natalia is now rabid screaming, "Mali, ako ang dapat lumabas sa resulta!" Esperanza now faces her and tells her, "Alin dahil dinoktor mo ang resulta? Nagsumbong sa amin ang duktor kaya bistado ka na! Lumayas ka na!" A security personnel comes and takes Natalia away. Esperanza instructs the man to take her away and out of the premises.

Natalia screams at them all, threatens Marimar, "Pagsisisihan ninyo it. Lalo ka na Marimar, pagbabayaran mo ito!"

Marimar takes Cruzita and hugs her. She is happy. Esperanza looks at Gustavo and Marimar and cries tears of joy. Marimar and Esperanza hug one another, finally knowing their true relations. At last, the true Marimar is revealed. Marimar goes to hug Gustavo again. Finally, father and daughter are reunited.

In Kim's office, Antonio arrives asking for the woman's signature. He notices that she is looking quite jolly and comments, "Parang masaya ka ah." She replies that she is indeed, "Well alam ko na kung paano laruin si Sergio. Ang feeling ko eh ang gusto niyang laro eh - habulan," she declares she now knows how to play Sergio's game and at the moment, that game is 'catch me'.

Sergio calls Kim and invites her to accompany him to an event he is attending that evening. Kim declines telling him, "I need my beauty rest." Sergio asks again, "Sure ka?" Kim is firm in her decision and tells him, "Dati eh isang kalabit mo lang nagkakandarapa na ako. Well I finally got the message," she used to be at his beck and call but now she is over that.

Natalia continues to struggle against the man who is pulling her out of the Aldama mansion. The man comments that she is quite crazy, "May sayad pala ito!" Near the gate, she is able to use her elbow to hit him hard on the stomach telling the guard that she is going to show her what crazy is, "Sayad pala ha!" as she also takes his weapon - a gun - that she points at him. She shoots and the guard falls. With a loaded weapon, Natalia goes back into the Aldama mansion, filled with hatred and vengeance.

Esperanza sees Natalia come in who is point a gun at all of them, looking quite crazed and maniacal. She tells the young impostor to leave them be, "Patahimikin mo na kami." Gustavo tells Natalia to stop what she intends to do, "Tigilan mo na kami." Esperanza moves to call the police but Natalia points the gun at her and tells her that if she calls the police, she will shoot Cruzita, who is now nestled in her pram.

They plead her to calm down and give it up but she tells all the maids including Gustavo and Esperanza to leave. The maids run. Gustavo and Esperanza are both hesitant to leave Marimar and Cruzita but Natalia looks scary and could very well do what she threatens to do so they have no choice but to play along. Gustavo declares they are leaving, "Lalabas kami pero huwag mo sasaktan pati apo ko, please Natalia," and implores that Natalia not hurt Cruzita. Outside Esperanza quickly calls the police.

Natalia points the gun at Marimar. Marimar pleads, "Huwag mong idamay ang anak ko. Natalia nakikiusap ako sa iyo." She wants Cruzita excluded from all this.

Unable to know what is going on inside the house, Gustavo feels quite helpless. He feels that fate continues to toy with his family's life, bringing them together then taking them apart, always pawns to destiny's whims. "Parang pinaglalaruan ako ng Diyos. Ang tagal kong hindi nakita ang anak ko. Ngayong nagkita na kami, parang gusto na naman kaming paghiwalayin. Parang gusto kaming laglaruan. Esperanza tells her cousin to be strong and have more faith.

The press and the police arrive together and the SWAT team set up their posts. Esperanza talks to the lead, "Kailangan hong itligtas ang pamangkin ko sa sira-ulong babaeng iyan."

Natalia asks Marimar what her last request is. "Huling hiling bago mamatay." Marimar declares she wants to hold Cruzita for one last time. Natalia fires a couple of gunshots. People outside are startled and Gustavo gets more worried.

Press have updated radio and television about the Aldama hostage-taking news. Innocencia's mother overhears it on the radio and tells her daughter. Innocencia wants to immediately go and make sure Marimar and Cruzita are okay. Her mother has second thoughts, thinking about Innocencia's own safety but she declares Marimar needs her leaving her mother alone and quite worried.

Sergio is in a party but the TV is on and the news is up. He hears a familiar name being mentioned, that of Natalia's. He tells everyone who cares to hear that he knows her. She used to be one of their employees at the resort. He wonders who Natalia has taken hostage.

Natalia wants to kill Cruzita but Marimar cries and pleads her, "Hindi! Ako na lang patayin mo," offering herself instead of Cruzita. Marimar adds, "Pag pinatay mo ako, wala nang mangugulo sa iyo," if Natalia kills her then she will no longer exist to bug Natalia. She implores the crazy woman, "Parang awa mo na Natalia, ako na lang ang patayin mo."

Sergio gets and idea. If he could speak to Natalia, she may be able to tell him where to find Choi. He remembers Natalia and Choi used to be close.

Marimar tells Natalia to let Cruzita go. "Ilabas mo ang anak ko, wag mong idamay dito."

Innocencia arrives at the scene. She is able to enter and now stands beside Esperanza and Gustavo who are hoping for Marimar and Cruzita to be alive still.

Sergio in his car asks why he is feeling something strange and why is he in such a hurry. "Bakit ba ko nagmamadali? Bakit parang may humihila sa akin para puntahan si Natalia? Sino ang kasama nya? Sino ang nasa panganib?" Who is she with? Who is in danger?

Natalia kicks Cruzita's pram and it rolls towards the Aldama's front steps. Marimar screams, "Huwag!" as she runs after the pram and the endangered baby inside it. She catches the handle just in time but Natalia shoots her in the arm. Marimar let go of her arm, Innocencia starts to run towards the pram as she screams, "Bella!" Gustavo calls out to his daughter, "Anak!" as he clutches his heart.

Marimar falls to the floor, Natalia stands over her, gun pointed at Marimar's head.

Innocencia catches the pram. Cruzita at least is safe.

Marimar's shoulder starts to bleed as she reaches out for Cruzita.
