Marimar Episode 71

Marimar Episode 71 – The One with the happy family – Sergio, Marimar and Cruzita

Angelika tells Monica about the truth she has discovered about Bella Aldama when she overheard Rodolfo and Bruno talking. Monica couldn’t believe it. “Kaya naman pala magkamukhang-magkamuha yang si Bella Aldama at si Marimar!” Monica exclaims. Now realizing that the uncanny resemblance is because they are one and the same person.

But she stops and asks Angelika another important question. Didn’t Angelika have Marimar killed?

This all the more irks Angelika who snaps, “Ewan ko ba! Palpak talaga itong si Nicandro, siya ang papatayin ko!” (I don’t know. This Nicandro is such a screw-up! I’m really going to kill him!)

Marimar who has finally allowed Cruzita some bonding time with her father tells her daughter that she is leaving her with Corazon and Sergio. Sergio asks her if she’d like to stay and this was immediately seconded by a pleading Cruzita, “Please mommy, please, please, please….”

Marimar looks down at the man she loves who is crouched beside the most important thing in her life. He says, “Pagbigyan mo na ang bata.” (Indulge the child.)

Monica is talking non-stop, excited about the fact that Marimar is alive and is now the rich, glamourous and uber-pretty Bella Aldama. She tells Angelika, “Kaya pala ganun ang ginawa sa iyo ni Bella Aldama, gumaganti lang siya. Oh no, di ka ba natatakot? Baka patayin ka rin niya?” (No wonder she’s been doing this to you, she’s just seeking vengeance. Oh no, aren’t you afraid that she’ll kill you too?) Monica recalls Angelika had Marimar killed so perhaps to retaliate, the rich and powerful Bella could have Angelika killed too.

Angelika brushes it aside telling Monica that if Bella wanted to kill her, she would have done so a long time ago. She curses, “Lecheng babaeng yan, parang pusa, ayaw mamatay-matay!” (That woman is like a cat; she seems to have nine lives!)

The evil Senora Santibanez however is still confident that when it comes to being scheming and evil, she is better than Marimar. “Pero di ako patatalo, pagdating sa kamalditahan, panalo pa rin ako.” Angelika smiles at Monica.

Cruzita continues to beg and after a pause Marimar relents addressing her daughter, “Alam mo namang hindi kita kayang tanggihan.” (You know I couldn’t say no to you.)

Both Cruzita and Sergio exclaim, “Yes!” Happy that the woman they both love is spending precious time with them too. The small Santibanez-Aldama family is complete at last and for the very first time.

Music plays as we see Sergio, Marimar and Cruzita pose for some picture-taking with Corazon as the photographer. Just like what Sergio and Marimar used to do, and what Marimar does with Cruzita, they cover their faces with their hands and when they’re ready, open showing happy, sad, angry or funny faces.

Cruzita requested that Sergio put his hand on Marimar’s face, Marimar’s hand covers Cruzita’s face and the child covers her father’s face. They all seem to enjoy making faces with Corazon relishing the part of the clicker as well. There was a look that Sergio and Marimar shared after one such game where she gave Sergio a flippant glare with one eyebrow raised higher than the other. Sergio smiles at her as Marimar looks away.

After several shots Cruzita asks Marimar to kiss her father. Sergio moves to oblige but Marimar takes a while to acquiesce. A few heartbeats and she too leans in toward Sergio and they kiss, Cruzita happy to see her parents lips locked in a solemn kiss, both pairs of eyes closed. Corazon couldn’t hide her excitement and happiness seeing the two and she snapped multiple shots to capture the moment.

Cruzita exclaims, “Mommy ito ang pinakamasaya kong araw!” (This is my happiest day ever!)

Sergio and Marimar both share a look as they smile at Cruzita.

Meanwhile, Monica and Angelika are in the car having been kicked out of their hotel. She asks Angelika what her plans are now. Angelika tells her friend that they are returning to San Martin dela Costa. There she will plan her revenge to once and for all get rid of Marimar.

Monica comments that her plans may no longer work as Marimar is now rich, while Angelika had become slightly poor. Marimar is now very pretty and sophisticated while Angelika had sort of let herself go. Monica is quick to add, “medyo” (just a little). “Dehado ka na!” (You’re at a disadvantage!) At this point Angelika tries to push Monica out of the vehicle. The comic best friend apologises and pretends to fall asleep. Angelika swears out loud, “Di pa tayo tapos Marimar, babalikan kita!” (We’re not through yet, Marimar, I will get back what is owed me.)

Arturo and Antonio are in the office and the gay asks Antonio to go grab a bite with him. “Halika kain tayo, gutom na ako. Libre kita.”

Antonio tells Arturo who even offers to pick the tab that he is still waiting for Sergio to return. He tells Arturo he is not his type and the young man adds, if Arturo wants them to have lunch together, then he should also ask the company of Innocencia whom Antonio seems to be eyeing with growing interest! He points to her with his lips not wanting the lady to realize he is talking about her. (I like the pair, I hope they end up together! Been wondering about that. Also if all ends well, maybe Tia Esperanza could fall for Renato, both are in their maturer years and would welcome one another’s company. Arturo can have Diego, if Monica gets imprisoned with Angelika for being accessory to the many crimes she has done. Nicandro can end up with Perfecta… oh the possibilities!)

It is early evening and Sergio takes home Cruzita with Corazon and of course, Marimar. Father and daughter are inseparable with Cruzita asking Sergio to tell her about her mom. Sergio exclaims, “Ang dami kong kwento tungkol sa mommy mo!” (I have some many stories about your mom!) and both run to the swing by the porch to continue their conversation.
A little behind is Marimar and Corazon who both are silent but looking quite happy. Corazon exclaims that she’s never seen Cruzita so happy. “Sabik sa father niya!” (She truly missed having a father!)

Both women look at the two who are talking animatedly on the swing.

Corazon takes the opportunity to offer her advice to Marimar. “Hindi naman sa nakikialam ako ha, huwag ka sanang magalit. Kasi alam ko naman ang pwedto ko, kung saan ko ilagay ang sarili ko. Pero napamahal na talaga sa akin si Cruzita at para ito sa kabutihan niya. Huwag na lang nimong paglayuin ang mag-ama.” (It’s not that I’m trying to intrude so please do not be angry with me. I know my place and I know it’s not in my position to offer any advice but I have learned to love Cruzita and care for her like she is my own and this is for her sake. Please do not separate her from her father.)

Antonio continues to ask Arturo about things he knows about Innocencia having both worked at Villa Santibanez at San Martin dela Costa but Arturo declares they were really not that close. She worked for Sergio in the office and Marimar used to be so jealous of her. “Feeling niya inaagaw ng girlalung yan ang jowa niya.” (Marimar felt that Innocencia was trying to take Sergio away from her.) Antonio asks the gay man whether there was any basis for Marimar’s jealousy. Arturo doesn't comment, unsure about her and Sergio's history. (What would Marimar do to Innocencia if she ever found out her closest confidante did fall for Sergio and is a relative of Angelika at that! Was it ever mentioned between them? I can't recall now...)

Marimar goes to Cruzita and Sergio and tells her daughter that maybe her father wants to leave. She explains to the child that perhaps Sergio may have other appointments or meetings to attend to. Sergio is quick to reply that he would cancel everything in a heartbeat to spend more time with his daughter.

He tells her daughter that he will stay but that she must go and get changed. The child leaves with Corazon with a request for Sergio, “Huwag kang aalis!” (Don’t leave!)

Alone together, Sergio stands beside Marimar. He tells her, “Kakapalan ko na mukha ko, is it OK if I stay for a while?” (I’m going to overstay my welcome by staying a bit longer. I hope it’s okay.)

Marimar doesn’t comment but she doesn’t budge from her position and is now side by side with her ex-husband. Sergio takes her hand in his. Both look down seeing their hands clasped together. Marimar remains silent but doesn’t make a move to take her hand away. Sergio smiles to himself seeing hope for reconciliation.

Rodolfo arrives and enters the gate.

Sergio looks into Marimar’s eyes and honestly reveals, “Na-miss kita, sobra.” (I miss you so much.)

Marimar feels the same and she tries to lean towards him, ready to kiss each other when Rodolfo calls her name, “Bella!”

“Rodolfo? Anong ginagawa mo dito?” (What are you doing here?)

“Bakit? Meron bang dahilan kung dalawin ko ang fiancĂ©e ko? Bakit kasama mo si Santibanez?” (Must I have a reason to visit my fiancee? Why is Santibanez with you?)

Sergio couldn’t help but answer, “Dahil ako ang ama ni Cruzita.” (Because I am Cruzita's father.)

Marimar stops him from talking anymore and faces Rodolfo with a statement. “Alam na ni Sergio ang totoo.” (Sergio knows the truth) Admitting that she had revealed all to her ex-husband and now Rodolfo's bargaining power - his threat - had been eliminated. (Yehey!)

Rodolfo insists that they can have their marriage annulled. He will even help with the paperwork. This irks Sergio who tries to confront Rodolfo but Marimar stops both men and tells Rodolfo, “Kung anuman ang namagitan sa amin ni Sergio, labas ka na roon. Kaya umalis ka na at baka may masabi pa akong hindi maganda.” (Whatever happened between me and Sergio is no longer your business. Please leave for I may not be able to help myself and say hurtful things to you.)

Rodolfo stops short. Marimar insists, “Please leave.”

After a moment, he turns around and leaves the two behind. Marimar and Sergio have been holding hands all that time!

Marimar turns to Sergio after Rodolfo has gone and tells him that perhaps it is better for him to leave as well, “Siguro kailangan mo na rin umalis.” (Didn't Cruzita ask him to stay?)

Sergio accepts this time, “OK. Goodnight”

“Goodnight.” The look they exchange is pregnant with longing. (I've always wanted to use that word in a non-maternity way!)

He kisses her again, hands still held together. He smiles at her. She smiles back. It feels awkward and familiar at the same time. Like going back to a place you so loved and cherished in your heart finding it a little bit different but still a lot the same. (Hay Sergi-Marimar fans, this is a super kilig moment! My excitement caused me to grab a pint of ice cream!)

Sergio’s smile is from ear to ear as he turns to leave. Marimar watches him go and smiles to herself as she enters her home.

In the Santibanez Motors office, Sergio finds Innocencia who just finished work prepare to leave. He happily tells her where he’s been and how his relationship with Marimar is turning towards the better but then grimaces when he relates that Rodolfo arrived and put a damper on this absolutely glorious day.

Innocencia asks, “Paano kung ipa-annull ni Marimar ang kasal ninyo?” (What if Marimar decides to have your marriage annulled?)

Marimar has just finished reading Cruzita a story and the child asks her why her father does not live with them. She tells Cruzita that it’s not that simple.

Cruzita offers that her dad can sleep on her mom’s bed, as it is quite a large bed. She asks her mother, “Di mo na love si daddy ko?” (Don't you love daddy anymore?)

Sergio tells Innocencia that he will not allow Marimar to have their marriage annulled especially now that they have a daughter. He stops and asks his secretary, “Ano sa palagay mo, may pag-asa ba ako?” Taking a woman’s point of view from one source he respects and values.
Innocencia’s reply is loaded, “Sir Sergio hindi ka mahirap mahalin, mahirap kang kalimutan.” Her timid smile betrays a longing, a deeply hidden love for the man in front of her. (Oh the twists and turns of this near-its-end telenovela, does this mean Innocencia still pines for Sergio? Is she advising Marimar to further her own interests, including getting a chance at Sergio's affections?)

Sergio lights up at her comment, “Yan ang gusto ko sa iyo, pinapalakas mo ang loob ko.” Sergio is sincere when he tells the young woman who seems to be still holding a torch for him that he values their friendship.

Angelika arrives at the Villa Santibanez in need of some cash and looks for the conniving attorney David. She learns that there is a new lawyer looking after their business as Atty. David is recuperating from a stroke. She asks the new lawyer for anything from the Santibanez coffers that could be sold. The lawyer tells her that there isn’t any more.

Angelika couldn’t believe it and argues that what she got from Renato was a mere portion of the total assets under the Santibanez name. The new lawyer tells her to focus instead on their business as it is again on the brink of bankruptcy and closure.

Angelika tells him he is over-acting bit the man insists that this is not a joke. She waves him aside telling him to stop scaring her, “Ok, huwag mo akong praningin, pwede?”

She states, “Hindi ito panahon para mag-isip ng mga ganyang problema. Ang gusto ko pera.” Angelika wants more money and is determined to get more from the Santibanez coffers. The lawyer repeats that all of Renato’s properties have been given to her already. The remaining properties are in Sergio’s name.

Marimar confronts Corazon why she told Cruzita stories about her and Sergio’s past. Corazon defends herself reasoning that Cruzita is a very inquisitive child and wouldn’t stop asking her about her parents.

Marimar reveals Cruzita is too young to understand what happened between her and Sergio. “Anong sasabihin ko sa kanya, na niloko ako’t iniwan ng tatay niya?” (What will I tell her that her father fooled and abandoned me?)

Corazon advises Marimar to forgive Sergio who seems sincere in his remorse and is doing everything he can to win back the trust and love they shared. Corazon adds, “Kitang kita naman na mahal na mahal niya si Cruzita.” (It is obvious how he adores Cruzita)

Marimar insists, “Sinaktan ako ni Sergio.” (But he hurt me.)

She plump nanny tells Marimar that it has been several years since all those bad things happened. Isn’t it time to forgive and forget it all? Marimar is silent, weighing the past against the future.

Rodolfo is trying to call Bella who doesn’t take his calls. He is getting frustrated. Bruno tells his friend to give it up. But Rodolfo needs the Aldama fortunes to expand his businesses. He needs to get married to Marimar.

Bruno, “But she’s already married!”

Rodolfo is hopeful that Marimar will see his point and since she has the power to nullify her marriage to Sergio.

Monica and Angelika are rummaging through the original office space that Sergio used when he decided to work at the resort. It used to be his mother’s office. They are looking for titles and deeds that Angelika can falsely claim as her own and sell off.

Angelika smokes allowing Monica to do all the finding. Monica finds a brown envelop with a large “Confidential” stamp. She opens it and finds Sergio’s and Marimar’s wedding certificate.

Angelika tells her to get rid of it, “Itapon mo, sunugin mo!” Throw it away or burn it.

But Monica reads the document and comments that she and Diego have the same certificate when they got married at the municipal hall but this one looks slightly different. Monica adds, “Kakaiba, parang may kulang.”

Her interest awakened, Angelika grabs the marriage certificate and inspects it.

Marimar Episode 64

Marimar Episode 64 – The one with Sergio crying in the rain

Rodolfo and Bruno arrive at the party and the former is roaming his eyes around obviously looking for his fiancee. Rowena, Bella’s secretary is clearly not in favour of Rodolfo for her boss but he seems oblivious to her reaction.

Meanwhile, Sergio and Bella are still on the landing of the stairs and whilst it affords a good view of the lobby, people from the ground can also see them clearly. Rodolfo looks up and shouts her name with a sharpness denoting he disapproves of her being with his rival, Santibanez.

At the Villa Santibanez, Angelika and Monica are with Renato. Angelika orders her minions to loosen up the ropes that tie Renato’s hands. She gives him the documents again and coaxes him to sign them. Renato acts as if to sign but at the last minute he starts to tear the documents. Angelika quickly recovered them and used the folder to hit Renato who is screaming to be set free, “Pakawalan mo na ko dito!”

Rodolfo goes to them and he sees that they are obviously talking about something personal. He tells her, “Kanina pa kita hinahanap. Anong nangyayari dito?” He tells her he has been looking for her and asks the two what is going on.

Bella replies, “May pinag-uusapan lang kami” that they’re just discussing something. Rodolfo orders her, “Well tapusin nyo na, naghihintay ako” to finish it quickly as he doesn’t want to be kept waiting.

He leaves them and Bella after a while turns her back to follow the man she chose, but her hand is still in Sergio’s and he doesn’t let go. She cries with her back to Sergio he cannot see the tears but knows that she feels something for him, her hand not leaving his. He looks down as she retrieves her hand and leaves. She promptly goes to Rodolfo’s side. Sergio is left alone on the landing, staring at the ring and felling totally empty inside.

Nicandro takes out what appears to be a pair of electrical rods which has Renato wide-eyed in fear. “Ano yan? Kuryente yan! Ayoko niyan!” He knows what they’re used for and screams he doesn’t want it.

Angelika tells her husband, “Di ka kukuryentehin kung pipirmahan mo ang mga dokumento.” (You won’t get electrocuted if you sign the documents.)

“Hindi ko pipirmahan yan! Hindi ko pipirmahan yan!” Renato repeatedly screams he’s not signing it.

Angelika asks him again, “Pipirma ka?” He vehemently objects, “Hindi!”

“Ayaw mo?” Angelika asks if he’s sure. “Ayoko” Renato confirms.

“Nicandro!” Angelika shouts Nicandro’s name to signal the thug’s applying electric shock torture on Renato. Angelika watches coldly as Renato screams in pain.

As soon as she reaches Rodolfo, the ambitious man hugs her and declares to everyone around, “Meron akong mahalagang sasabihin sa inyong lahat and I want to make this announcement with someone very important in my life.”

Bella’s face mirrors her heart as she clearly doesn’t like for any of this to happen, but only did it to see vengeance. Rodolfo is the exact opposite, happy to tell the whole world. “I’m sure you are all wondering why I hosted a party.” He tells the guests that they are all important friends and associates to him and Bella and the reason they are all gathered is because he is going to propose to her at last.

Rodolfo looks up at the sad Sergio and beams in triumph.

Nicandro stops and Angelika asks Renato is he is going to sign the papers now. He insists he won’t so she orders Nicandro to give him another shot as Renato screams again in pain. Finally he tells Angelika that he is going to sign so as to stop the electrocution.

With everyone as witnesses, Rodolfo kneels in front of Bella and says, “Bella, will you marry me?” Sergio looks on unfeeling. After a pause, Bella almost whispers her agreement, “yes.” Rodolfo smiles, puts an expensive looking ring on her finger and stands to kiss and embrace his wife-to-be.

Sergio is depressed, their exchange a further nail into his already broken heart. Bella looks as worse as Sergio but feigns happiness for pretense’s sake.

Sergio puts the ring back in the box. Bella looks up at Sergio but he turns and leaves quietly.

In the rain, Sergio sits on a bench in an empty park. He recalls moments he’d spent with the mysterious and intriguing Bella Aldama as we flashback to their short lived romance. He doesn’t notice a car pull up behind him as he stands to leave. Out the car, a worried Bella comes wearing a raincoat. She moves as if to call his name but chose to be silent and cry instead. He doesn’t even know she’s just behind him. He walks away and she sits on the same bench he just vacated, finally giving in to the pain and the tears as they get mixed up with the rain.

Mike and Nicandro free Renato’s tied hands and Angelika gives him the documents. He signs off his fortunes to his evil and sadistic wife. Angelika takes back the signed papers and shares beaming smiles with her friend Monica.

Renato tells her, “Pakawalan mo na ko.” and repeats it to remind her of her promise. But she gets back at him with a question, “Ano ako sira ulo?” (What do you think I am, crazy?) She has no plans of freeing him at all. Angelika leaves him “Maraming salamat honey, bye!” with a snide smile and a thank you.

Renato screams, “Angelika!” as he gets tied up again. He struggles helplessly, “Pakawalan nyo na ko!”

Antonio who witnessed his friend’s disastrous proposal finds a very wet and very sad Sergio in his office. He wants to put all the blame on Bella so Sergio would get angry and forget her. “Di talaga mapagkakatiwalaan si Bella Aldama. Pinagplanuhan niya ito.” (You really cannot trust that Bella Aldama. She’s got this all planned.)

Sergio sadly adds, “Hindi ko alam kung bakit gusto niyang gawin sa akin ito.” (I just don’t know why she wanted to do this to me.)

Antonio advises his friend to forget about her, “Wag mo na siyang isipin.”

Sergio realises something. He reveals to Antonio that he has felt the same pain before. “Nadaan ko na ito dati.” This is exactly how he felt with Marimar. What’s bothering him is why they are the same kind of pain.

Bella and Innocencia discuss the night of proposals. Bella admits to her friend that she never expected Sergio to propose. She wanted him to come to the party to see Rodolfo proposing to her, and she accepting – but didn’t picture that Sergio would go as far as asking for her hand in marriage.

Bella admits it wasn’t in her plans at all. Innocencia reminds her that what her plan intends was to give Sergio as much pain as he gave her and surely with what happened, her plan turned out to be a great success.

Marimar tells her friend, “Di ko alam kung masisiyahan ako sa ginawa natin. Di ko makuhang masaya na si Sergio nasasaktan.” (I don’t know if I should be happy with what we did. I can’t seem to be happy while Sergio is in pain.)

Innocencia now knows Marimar still has feelings for Sergio so she asks her friend, “Paano si Rodolfo? Tuloy pa ba ang pagpapakasal mo sa kanya?” (How about Rodolfo, are you still going to marry him?)

Rodolfo and Bruno are still together after the party and are celebrating. Bruno tells his friend that finally he’s engaged. Rodolfo corrects him, “Engaged and in love.” Bruno asks the former, “Why her?”

Rodolfo tells his friend he wants to prove to his father and his first wife that he can not only manage the San Inez business well but he can also expand it by buying into the Aldama corporation. “Once ikasal kami, mapupunta na rin sa akin ang kumpanya at ang kalahati ng mga bilyones niya.” (Once we are married, I can get my hands on their company and half of her billions.)

“So you will marry her for money?” Bruno concludes.

Rodolfo corrects him again, “I will marry her for love and money!”

Bruno asks, “Don’t you have any pre-nuptial agreement?”

Rodolfo is already a step ahead revealing to Bruno, “Napag-isipan ko na yan at may plano na rin ako tungkol diyan.”

His inner voice wakes up the sleeping Renato as he brushes it aside, not interested in what the voice has to say to him anymore, “Ano na naman ang gusto mo?”

The voice asks him why he gave in to Angelika’s tortures and signed the papers. He defends himself explaining that he couldn’t do anything. They will hurt him continuously until he signed those papers.

His voice calls him an idiot, “Eh tanga ka talaga! Ngayon pwede ka na nila patayin!” Whilst he didn’t sign those documents, he has some value to them. Now that he’s already signed, he’s already served his purpose and can now be easily eliminated.

But Renato tells his inner voice that he won’t listen to it anymore stating that he knows what he is doing. Still the voice questions his actions, “Bakit ka pumirma? Sa Pagpirma mo ng dokumento, you signed your death sentence.”

Monica is happy for Angelika. “Friend ikaw ang wagi” telling Angelika that she is the winner, “Friend ang yaman yaman mo na!” and exclaiming that Angelika is now very very rich!

Angelika smiles but is thoughtful. She shares, “Akala ko lubos na ang happines ko kapag yumaman ako. Pero hindi pala.” She declares money isn’t everything and couldn’t even give her the happiness she thought she’d have once she’s gotten everything. Monica asks her what else is it that she wants to be totally happy. Angelika simply replies, “si Sergio. hanggang ngayon, siya pa rin.” (It’s Sergio. Until now, he is still the one.)

Sergio is moving on from his painful experiences and goes to a coffee shop where he accidentally bumps into a girl in red! (Gwen Garci) She apologises and introduces herself, “I’m Olga.” She gives Sergio her card and appears to like Sergio as she also gives him her cell phone number saying, “kakapalan ko na mukha ko” (I’m going to be shameless and give you my cell phone number)

Angelika and Monica prepare to leave again for Manila. Perfecta asks her mistress what they are to do about Renato. She tells her loyal assistant that she’s already given orders to Nicandro and he knows what to do with her husband.

Sergio talks to Olga. He tells her that he knows the president of her company as he was a classmate of his. Bella arrives at the same shop and sees Sergio and Olga talking. She doesn’t like it, being quite jealous of Sergio’s attention and she breaks up their chit-chat saying, “Excuse me, nakaharang kayo sa daan.” (Excuse me but you’re both blocking the way.)

Just then Olga realises who it is she is talking to and exclaims, “Oh my God, you’re a race car driver!” She gushes as she asks him for his autograph.

Sergio ignores Bella’s comments as he signs a folder Olga offered him. Bella however refuses to be ignored as she again makes a loud comment, “Talagang sa gitna pa kayo naglalandian ah?”

Olga takes a stand by asking Bella, “Sino ka ba?” (Who are you anywany?)

Bella is prepared for war, “Di mo ako kilala kaya kung ako sa iyo, umalis ka na!” (You don’t know me so if I were you, I’d leave.)

The girl is shocked at how upset Bella appears to be while Sergio who keeps his silence is looking amused.

Olga is still standing there prompting Bella to shout and glare at her, “Alis!” (Scoot!) and Olga hurries off looking quite harrassed.

Sergio teases Bella, “Ano bang ginagawa mo? Nagseselos ka ba? Sinusundan mo ba ako?” (What do you think you’re doing? Are you jealous? Are you following me?)

Bella says no to all his queries and he continues. “Ah yes, you are getting married! Am I invited?” Bella is quick to say, “No.”

She makes to leave but Sergio throws her something to ponder, “Basang basa na kita. Alam kong may gusto ka pa rin sa akin.” (I can read you like an open book. I know that you still have feelings for me.)

Bella’s reply is a snap, “Kapal ng mukha mo!” (You’re delusional!)

Angelika and Monica check in at a hotel in Manila. Then Angelika suggests that they lounge at the same bar where they last saw Sergio. Monica asks what they are going to do there when Sergio clearly jilted her earlier. Angelika makes her friend choose, they can either lounge at the bar or she can go to the casino. Monica quickly grabs her friend claiming that they should go to the bar and quick!

Sergio and Arturo have coffee al fresco still in the same coffee shop. He tells his gay friend that he has discovered something about Bella Aldama. She is the jealous type, very much like Marimar. This gives him a chance to find out once and for all if Bella cares for him too.

Arturo reminds him that she’s marrying Rodolfo and that he may hurt himself again, “Bossing baka wala ka nang magagawa diyan. Emote ka ng emote, baka ma-double busted ka diyan!”

But Sergio claims he has a plan to win Bella back and smiles mischievously.

Marimar Episode 23

Marimar – Episode 23: The one where Marimar is possibly pregnant

Renato and his lawyer are discussing his financial crisis and there seems to be no other solution left to the elder Santibanez but to mortgage his property.

Marimar and Sergio are out on a picnic and are discussing the recent events with Angelika to which Marimar suggest for them to leave the villa and live somewhere else. Marimar admits that she doesn’t really feel at home there having no friends as feeling like she is always on her toes in fear that she might turn around and break things. To this Sergio explains that villa Santibanez is his only home. It is where he was born, where he grew up, and where his mother’s presence can still be felt. He wants to keep living there because it had been an important place for his mother who built the resort from scratch. Sergio then informed Marimar that she is important to him, so he wants the people who really matter most to him to be in one place. Marimar replied that she does understand how Sergio feels but she herself has so many reservations which she chose to keep to herself. When Sergio leaves, Marimar outpours her feelings to her one true friend, Fulgoso. She asks why so many people seem to be bent in separating her and Sergio? Why many are so against their marriage? Why, after all this time of living in the villa, she still feels like she isn’t wanted?

Meanwhile, Innocencia’s ex-boyfriend, Victorino waits for her to pass by her normal route to work and begs for them to have a talk. The young woman agrees and they talk there and then with Victorino begging Innocencia to take him back. He is sorry for what he’d done the past week and wants to get back together with Innocencia. When he asks his ex-GF if there is someone else in her life, she at first tried to deny it but when Victorino pushed her, she admitted that she has fallen for Sergio and walks away leaving Victorino in a jealous rage.

Angelika is pissed at her bodyguard Diego who goes and follows her wherever she goes leaving her unable to plot and scheme towards Marimar’s downfall. When Monica appears in an all fatigue outfit (even her cap) Angelika has someone to insult calling her “over-fatigued”. Monica still finds Diego a yummy treat to which Angelika had an idea. She asked Monica to go and flirt with her shadow and distract him so she can slip away. While the two are in discussion, Victorino arrives demanding to see the wife of Sergio Santibanez. Intrigued at the man’s obvious anger, she pretends to be Sergio’s wife and Victorino warns her that Sergio may be having more than business relations with his secretary as Innocencia has admitted she has fallen in love with Sergio. This information only irritates Angelika more.

Renato is signing off the mortgage papers while Sergio now back in the office is talking with Innocencia. She had revealed that the resort is in dreadful financial circumstances and the bank does not even want to loan out to them anymore. Angered at this information, Sergio confronts Renato who at first denied anything is wrong. However due to Sergio’s disrespectful manner towards him, he throws his son the company records that clearly show they are near bankruptcy. Sergio resigns leading his father to call him a coward. Sergio insists he isn’t and will prove to Renato how he will save their business using his own means. Renato then asked for his son’s written resignation the very next day and to keep this between them. When Sergio impertinently asked, “Why, don’t you want your friends to know what a big failure you are?” Renato reasoned that if ever anyone gets to know their real state, there will be chaos – the staff may go on strike, guests may no longer come and investors may no longer give them their needed capital – which convinces Sergio to keep this information classified.

Marimar visits Choi in the souvenir shop and the young man offers Marimar a beautiful bouquet of flowers especially picked by Choi for her. Marimar said she will give it to Corazon who liked offering the flowers to the Sto. Nino. Choi felt bad about this to which Marimar reminded him that they are just friends. Choi agrees but is not that excited about it. Unknown to them, Natalia is watching the exchange by the window. Her strange sister appears telling her to make Marimar her friend and when she is already in too deep, then Natalia should strike to neutralise and get rid of Marimar as a threat for Choi’s attentions.

Angelika had managed to slip away from Diego and she confronted Innocencia in the lobby. They are now in a hut with Nicandro and the captured Innocencia had obviously been beaten by Angelika and her thug. Angelika made Innocencia admit her true feelings for Sergio and when she did, Angelika now more incensed told her that she is the only one who has the right to own Sergio. This leads to Angelika using a brand (used for cows and horses) to mark and ruin Innocencia’s face. She them throws her a wad of money stating that’s the last she’ll ever get from her and good luck on her being able to afford medication for her sick mother. Innocencia is left crying on the floor full of anger towards her own cousin.

Corazon prepared a meal for Marimar that is usually her favorite but this time the young woman just doesn’t have the appetite to eat. Corazon’s been babbling about how evil Angelika is and that sometimes when she knows she is going to see her, she wears protection like a lei of garlic to keep safe. This makes Marimar laugh but still she doesn’t eat. Corazon noticed how sad she is and suggested for Marimar and Sergio to have a baby. This way, while Sergio is off at work, she will be kept busy caring for her child. “Just promise to make me a yaya,” Corazon kids Marimar. The thought of having her own child with Sergio does seem to make Marimar happy.

Marimar is still waiting for Sergio when she suddenly felt dizzy. Perfecta saw her and asked what the matter was. Earlier Perfecta had overheard Marimar and Corazon’s conversation about having babies and seeing Marimar so wan and dizzy gives Perfecta reason to suspect that she indeed may be pregnant. She hurries off to find Angelika and tell her mistress this bit of news.

Marimar is in bed not feeling very well with Fulgoso beside her. She asks her mutt why she is feeling this way when before she loved shellfish, now she seems to get sick when she seems them. Fulgoso replies, “Marimar there is only one explanation for this, you are becoming as snotty and hoity-toity as the high society!” Marimar then tells Fulgoso that although she loves him, his scent is also making her want to vomit so if he doesn’t mind, maybe he can sleep downstairs. Fulgoso then realises his mistress might be pregnant.

Perfecta finds Angelika who looks to be tired. She tells what she suspects about Marimar’s condition to which Angelika gets more alarmed. If Marimar could be pregnant this will make it even more difficult for her to separate her and Sergio. She tells Perfecta that no one must ever know about this new bit of information since she plans of getting rid of the child before it is even known to exist.

My take: How bad can you be to hurt even your own blood? Apparently Angelika is. Although she is stupid to let Innocencia be Sergio’s secretary in the first place. If I were her, I’d have offered my services as the father and son’s personal assistant that way, I get to be useful, and get to spend time with both my husband and my ex-BF.

Quotables: Renato, “I am your father and the CEO of this company.” Sergio, “Well I am the son of the woman who gave you this company.” (Taray!)

Angelika to Monica “Ano namang yang suot mo?” Monica, “Jenny from the block!” Angelika pointing at her friend’s hat “Ano to?” Monica “fatigue”. Angelika points to cap, blouse, pants, and shoes “fatigue, fatigue, fatigue...aba eh, over-fatigue ka na kadiri, so cheap!”

Corazon, “Oo yung, bibi”, acts like she is carrying a child and rocking it sideways. Marimar “Ahhhh!” (hehehehe bibi pala tawag doon, kala ko kasi baby!)
