Marimar Episode 86

Marimar Episode 86 – The one where Marimar Finds Innocencia & Sergio Kissing
Aired in the UAE on 17th December 2007, Monday.

Sergio is sleeping on the sofa, too drunk to go upstairs in his room. Innocencia arrives and calls him. The door is open so she lets herself in. There are tall glass panels that serve as windows showing the outside what is in.

Fulgoso is concerned for his friend’s state and laments, “Dios mio, kelan ba magiging masaya itong si Marimar? Lagi na lang malungkot.” (Until when will all this sadness be in your life?)

(Well why doesn’t she just go and admit that she still loves Sergio?)

Fulgoso reasons, “Kasi mahirap aminin.” (It’s not that easy.)

Marimar is driving as she calls Arturo on the cell phone to ask him a question.

Innocencia goes to the sleeping Sergio and holds his hand; lovingly putting it in hers as she talks to the man she loves. “Bakit pinagpipilitan pa ang sarili mo kay Marimar? Ilang beses ka na niyang pinagtabuyan pero nandiyan ka pa rin. Kelan mo ba siya makakalimutan?” (Why do you keep insisting for Marimar to love you when she has so many times sent you away, still you remain. When will you forget her?)

Dra. Ria tells Renato to rest as his therapy starts tomorrow. Renato asks her to stay a while and talk, he asks her about her life. “Boring ang buhay ko,” (my life is boring) was all she can say. Renato jokes that if she tells him about it, it will help put him to sleep if it really is that boring. Ria shares a smile with her patient. Renato asks her about her parents, whether she has any siblings...Ria relates that both her parents live in the States and that she is an only child. “Yun na yon,” (that’s that) she declares without further elaborating on any more details. Renato agrees, “Boring nga” (boring indeed). Both doctor and patient share another smile. Uuuy mukhang nagkaka-igihan na tong dalawang ito! Sabagay mabait si Ria unlike Angelika who was such a user. Sige na nga! Although I’m still hoping Renato meets Tia Esperanza and something happens there...parang bagay kasi sila. They’d complement one another well.

Angelika urges her friend Monica to drink with her. Monica cautions her to keep the noise down as Diego is already asleep. Angelika raises her voice all the more, forcing Monica to drink with her as she declares, “Damayan mo ako sa problema ko.” (Come join me in my sorrows.)

Innocencia tells Sergio that she loves him. “Tutuluungan kitang makalimutan si Marimar. Hindi kita iiwan. Mahal na mahal kita Sergio.” (I will help you forget Marimar. I will never leave you, I love you so much Sergio) I feel for Innocencia. She is a good person and her only mistake was falling for the same guy as Angelika and Marimar. Swerte ni Sergio no! Daming pretty girls all out for him!

(Even if Marimar won, she is still a loser.)

Monica, being rather slow on the uptake, questions her friend’s statement. “How can you say that? Ganda-ganda na ng buhay ni Marimar.” (Marimar has such a great life now)

(Yes she may be rich, beautiful and famous but she is still a loser because she doesn’t have Sergio.)

Innocencia couldn’t help herself. She hesitates at first but the moment gets the better of her as she leans in to kiss Sergio. He grabs her dreaming that he is instead kissing the woman he loves, as he calls out her name, “Marimar...”

Innocencia pauses, “Marimar?”

Sergio talks in his sleep, “Sabi ko na ba ako pipiliin mo. Ako mahal mo di ba? Napakalungkot ko kung wala ka. Sabihin mo mahal mo ako di ba?” (I knew it, you’d pick me because you love me, right? I’d be so sad without you. Tell me you love me, you do love me right?)

Angelika considers it her triumph, separating Marimar and Sergio as she makes a toast with Monica, “Sana habang buhay silang miserable!” (I wish them a lifetime of misery!)

Innocencia forces herself to believe Sergio is talking to her. She replies, “Sergio, mahal na mahal kita.” Sergio still dreaming grabs her and kisses her thinking she is Marimar. Innocencia gives in to her feelings and pretends Sergio means this kiss to be for her and not Marimar.

Dr. Ria and Renato had a nice time chatting she hardly noticed the time. (It’s 9pm, I need to go) Renato protests but she assures him, “Babalik ako bukas.” (I’ll return tomorrow) Eager, he asks “Anong oras?” (Which time?) She smiles at him as she replies, “tanghali.” (Noon.) He protests, “Tagal naman!” (That long) and adds, “Sana bukas pag-gising ko, nandito ka na.” (I wish tomorrow when I wake up, you’re already here.) There is a tenderness in the wish that gives the pretty doctor an awkward moment which she quickly brushes aside by her own protestations, “Napaka-demanding mo naman!” (You’re so demanding!) She adds that he is not the only patient she is seeing in the hospital. Though to us viewers it appears to be so. hehehehe.

Renato pursues, “Saan ka pupunta?” (Where are you going?) Ria offers a vague answer, “May ime-meet lang.” (Just meeting someone.) Renato is curious, “Boyfriend?” She denies it, “wala.” He asks the dreaded question, “Asawa?” (Husband) She gives him hope with her answer, “Wala.” (No)

Corazon and another household help talk about Marimar’s earlier walkout drama in the church. It must be the hottest gossip in the Aldama household with Corazon probably the best source being the closest to Marimar.

Meantime, she is at the gate of Sergio’s house. She hesitates as she mulls over the next step, “Ewan ko kung tama itong gagawin ko, bahala na...pero handa na akong sabihin sa iyo ang totoo.” (I don’t know if what I’m doing is the right thing but I’m ready to tell you how I truly feel.) She takes a big breath as she steels herself for what she is about to do.

Corazon enjoys being the source of all the hottest goss as she shares the latest bit of information with her colleague, “Punta siya kay Sir Sergio, mag-talks. Sana magkabalikan na sila.” (She went to see Sergio and have a heart-to-heart talk. I hope they get back together.) She’s been the staunchest supporter of the Sergio-Marimar love affair ever since the two got together and is clearly excited about the two getting back together.

Marimar walks up Sergio’s flat and through the glass panel, she sees Innocencia and Sergio wrapped in each other’s arms and kissing passionately. She takes a step back in her shock. A moment longer, she sighs in resignation and leaves; saddened by what she just witnessed.

On the other side of the glass, Innocencia smiles in bliss, happy to kiss and embrace the man she truly loves.

In the car, Marimar drives like a raging lunatic cursing Sergio and her love for him. “Hayop ka Sergio, hayop ka!” (damn you Sergio!) She cries, blaming herself for being too soft, “Ang tanga-tanga ko!” (How could I be so stupid?) She suffers from her love for this one man who continues to hurt her the most, “Hanggang kailan mo ako papa-iyakin?” (Until when are you going to make me cry?) She cries in jealous rage as she questions, “Hanggang kailan?”

Marimar arrives home with slumped shoulders. Fulgoso exclaims, “Dios mio Marimar, ang bilis mong nakauwi! Nagkabalikan na ba kayo ni Sergio?” (back so soon, so did you make up with Sergio?) Of course, Marimar doesn’t hear him like we do so Corazon asks a similar question but she notices that Marimar doesn’t look well.

(I wish I didn’t go there.) Corazon wants her to explain her current state, “Ano ba ang nangyari?” (What happened?) But Marimar is still caught up in self-pity, “Di ko na lang sana hinayaan ang sarili kong umasa sa wala.” (I wish I’d stop myself from hoping.)

Corazon shakes her out of her misery wanting Marimar to tell her exactly what happened. “Di ko makaintindi, ‘Day!” (I don’t understand) Fulgoso seconds the motion, “Me too! You what’s going on?”

(I saw Sergio and Innocencia kissing. No wonder Innocencia betrayed me, she and Sergio are having an affair. First it was Angelika, now it’s Innocencia.)

Corazon tries to calm her down, giving a different point of view, “Teka, sure ba ka Inday? Baka yung nakita nimo na parang naghahalikan baka nag-uusap lang.” (Are you truly sure? Maybe they are just talking and it appears like they were kissing.) Oo nga naman, remember Marimar your pictures with Choi which Angelika used to anger Sergio? Give him the benefit nga naman of the doubt.

But Marimar defends what she saw, “Hindi ako bulag!” (I’m not blind!)

Corazon refuses to believe it knowing well how Sergio loves Marimar, “Hindi magagawa ni Sir Sergio yon. Mahal na mahal ko niya. May lihim na pagtingin kay Sir Sergio si Innocencia.” (Sergio won’t do something like that. It’s Innocencia who has secret feelings for Sergio.) Well Corazon, it’s no longer a lihim at bonggang-bonggang bunyang na with what she has done!

Marimar doesn’t want to hear anymore explanations, “Tama na! Lagi mo na lang pinagtatanggol ang lalaking yan! Wala shang kwentang tao. Hindi siya dapat iyakan at hindi sya dapat mahalin!” (Enough, you are always defending him! I shouldn’t even be crying over a useless man like him and he doesn’t deserve to be loved!)

The next day at the Santibanez Motors office, Arturo and Innocencia are talking. Arturo is babbling on about a crush but Innocencia is not interested. She is quite distracted about something but Arturo doesn’t know what is bothering her. She asks Arturo if Sergio is OK. She explains to the gay driver that when she found him last night, Sergio was already asleep. Sergio joins their conversation, overhearing Innocencia’s comment, “Galing ka sa bahay?” (You went to my home?)

Marimar asks Atty. Romualdez to represent the company on her behalf. She asks about plane tickets and the lawyer replies that she got them booked as Marimar requested. Rodolfo arrives and hearing about booked tickets and he asks his ex-fiancĂ©e, “Going away somewhere?”

Arturo leaves the two as Innocencia asks Sergio, “Wala ka bang natatandaan?” (Don’t you remember anything?) Sergio prods her for more information as everything seems hazy from his end, “Bakit, may nangyari ba kagabi?” (Why, did anything happen last night?) Innocencia is quite disappointed that the man she loves doesn’t even remember what she may consider as the sweetest moment of her life. She lies, “Wala.” (Nothing.)

Marimar plainly tells Rodolfo the facts, “Babalik ako sa America, magpapahinga muna roon.” (I’m going back to America, get some rest.) Rodolfo is sarcastic when he asks, “Tatakasan mo ang mga usap-usapan about us?” (You’re escaping from all this gossip about us?) Marimar realises she hasn’t properly asked forgiveness from Rodolfo for what she’s done to him. (I’m sorry. I know I did something really bad and I know I owe you a huge apology.) Ehem excuse me Rodolfo, there is no “us”! Hindi naman naging kayo ni Marimar ah!

Sergio, Antonio and Innocencia are in a discussion. Antonio is making a report but Sergio is distracted, his mind clearly on something else.

Rodolfo is bitter, “Iniwanan mo ako sa simbahan. Galit na galit ako sa iyo. Nakita ko yung mga tingin sa akin ng mga tao. Awang-awa sila sa akin. Gusto kitang awayin! Pero na-realise ko rin na di lang naman ikaw ang may kasalanan, ako din. Sa umpisa pa lang, alam kong hindi mo ako mahal pero pinilit ko pa rin.” (You left me at the altar. I was so mad at you. I saw how the people were looking at me, feeling sorry for me. I wanted to get back at you but I realised you’re not the only person to blame here. Since the beginning I knew you didn’t love me but still I persisted.)

He sighs, but continues to talk, hoping perhaps to get closure over what happened. “Sayang, I do believe we’re a good match pero huwag kang mag-alala. Hindi ko na pagpipilitan ang sarili ko sa iyo. Tanggap ko na na hindi tayo para sa isa’t isa.” (A pity, but I won’t force myself on you anymore. I’ve come to accept the fact that we are not meant for each other.) Wow Rodolfo is coming out to be the bigger person here and quite the gentleman! Ika nga, keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. Ano nga kaya?

Marimar appears truly relieved that they have put things aside and she offers, “Rodolfo, pwede naman tayong magkaibigan di ba?” (We could still be friends.) He smiles, the old, suave Rodolfo is back, “I don’t see why not.” They hug but what Marimar doesn’t see is how sad Rodolfo looks.

Arturo approaches Sergio, “Bossing.” Sergio shushes him to keep quiet as he is still nursing a bad hangover, “Sakit ulo ko!” Arturo talks softly, “Di natuloy ang kasal ni Marimar at Rodolfo” and shows Sergio the newspaper. (Marimar and Rodolfo’s wedding got cancelled.)

Sergio calls Corazon, telling his old yaya that he wants to talk to Marimar. Corazon blurts out that she is busy with preparations as she is leaving for the US.

Marimar walks with Rodolfo in the Aldama building’s lobby. Rodolfo asks, “Kelan ang alis nyo?” (When are you leaving?) Marimar informs him, “sa Miyerkules.” (This Wednesday.) He notes, “Nagmamadali ka ah.” (Why the rush?)

Just then, Sergio arrives and on his heels Marimar’s security detail alert at the possibility of a confrontation. Rodolfo acknowledges him, “Santibanez” but Sergio goes straight to the point, telling Marimar that they need to talk. He warns Rodolfo from interfering, “Huwag kang makialam, usapang pamilya ito. Aalis kayo?” (Don’t interfere this is between family, you’re leaving?) Anger is etched in Sergio’s question.

Marimar snaps, “wala kang karapatan sa amin!”(You have no right over me!) The memory of Sergio and Innocencia still fresh in her mind.

Sergio agrees that over her, he has no power but he has rights over Cruzita reminding Marimar that he is the father. But Marimar tells him with finality, “Hindi mo na siya makikita.” (You’ll never see her again.)

Sergio tries to struggle against the men who now grabbed his arms, “Alam ko ako lang mahal mo, akin ka lang!” (I know, you love me. You’re mine!) Marimar tells her men, “Paalisin nyo siya.” (Take him away.) They pull Sergio away from Marimar and Rodolfo.

Angelika meets a new man – she appraises him thinking to herself that she could find some use for him as she seeks her vengeance from her most hated enemy, Marimar.

Marimar Episode 85 – The one where Marimar becomes a runaway bride
Aired in the UAE on 14th December 2007, Thursday

It is a beautiful old church and the wedding of Bella and Rodolfo are proceeding as planned. The entourage is marching and Cruzita looks cute and cuddly in her yellow flower girl’s gown. The wedding motif is obviously yellow, a happy color and suits Marimar’s coloring well. She enters radiant in her white gown. She walks alone holding only her bouquet of white and yellow flowers, a mix of yellow bells and chrysanthemums. As she reaches the end of her walk, she kisses her mother-in-law to be and takes the hand of her future father-in-law and puts it on her forehead, making the traditional Filipino “mano” – a show of respect to the elders. Fulgoso is very emotional and cries as his dear friend enters marriage. Rodolfo hugs Marimar and leads her to the priest who will perform the wedding ceremony.

In a hospital, Renato gets a visit from his beautiful doctor. She asks how he is and he replies candidly, “OK naman. Akala ko hindi na ikaw ang duktor ko dahil hindi mo ako dinalaw kahapon.” Noting how Ria had left him to read the papers by himself a couple of days back, he apologises for his behavior and Dr. Ria smiles, telling him she should be the one to apologise as she should have been more patient with him. So Renato and Ria will be quite an item in the coming episodes. I had expected Renato to meet and fall for Tia Esperanza, seeing that she is obviously still available….sayang…but Mina is cute in her role of Dr. Ria. Remember Carmina used to play the roles of Richard’s little sister – sa Singalong days nila – now love tandem na sila!

Monica and Angelika are together and the latter is showing her her earnings. Monica is shocked at the prize, 100 pesos, asking her friend why she settled for such a low amount. Angelika explains that that is all the man had in him. She further points to her looks now, saying, “Ang pangit-pangit ko na!” Monica looks at her and agrees, “Sabagay…” Crazy Monica nag-agree pa! Kakaloka. I love the comic exchanges of these two despite them being quite the biatches…bagay silang comedic tandem. Ano ba ako, puro tandem….!

Bella is crying behind her veil. The priest asks her and despite her sobs, she answers, “Yes father.” Tia Esperanza is crying on her seat, knowing how Marimar isn’t at all marrying for love. Rodolfo doesn’t hesitate when it was his turn to answer and gives a clear “Yes father” reply to all the priest’s questions.

Renato promises the pretty doctor that he will be a good patient from now on. She smiles, happy to hear the handsome patient’s promise to be good. She also makes a promise of her own, “Pangako, aalagaan ka naming kahit anong mangyari.” She adds that someday, Renato’s memories will return and he will have his life back.

Angelika blames Marimar for her current ugliness. She states that beauty had been one of her means to get what she wanted in the past and now, because of Marimar she lost even that. She couldn’t help but curse her nemesis, “Walang hiya siya!”

Monica agrees that Angelika did suffer because Marimar wanted revenge. “Grabe ang paghihiganti ni Marimar.” Well imagine naman kasi how you and Angelika plotted and schemed to make Marimar’s life miserable in the past. Angelika only deserves what she got now for being so mean and evil.

That may not be so far from the truth as Bella and Rodolfo, the man she doesn’t even love exchange their vows.

The priest asks Rodolfo, “Do you take Bella for your lawfully wedded wife…..” and the groom confidently and promptly replies, “I do.”

Sergio arrives at the church and walks slowly towards the door.

It is Bella’s turn to be asked. “Bella, do you take Rodolfo to be your husband.”

Sergio positions himself at the back of the church having no plans of disrupting the ongoing ceremonies.

Bella takes a long time to answer. She is sobbing more audibly now and everyone seems to be holding their breath, waiting for her answer. The priest looks worried for the bride and Rodolfo is starting to get alarmed. Sergio too is holding his breath.

Back at the Santibanez Motors office, Innocencia is upset why Sergio had to go to the wedding at all. “Akala ko ba tanggap na niya na si Rodolfo at Marimar na?”

Antonio explains to her that it is not easy for Sergio to just accept Marimar’s decision. He had promised them that he wouldn’t make a scene. Antonio’s worry is whether Sergio will get there in time.

The priest asks the bride the same question again. Rodolfo takes the microphone and puts it closer to Bella, forcing her to make her reply. She barely whispers her, “I do.” But Sergio heard it clearly as he cries for his loss, the woman he loves.

There is a general feeling of relief that clearly shows on Rodolfo’s face. The priests asks the couple to repeat after him the vows or marriage.

Sergio feeling hurt and still in physical pain, turns and walks away. He has tears in his eyes.

(Even if he did make it, he has no control over Marimar’s heart and mind. He will only end up hurting himself.)

Antonio makes his own theory, “Paano kung di matuloy ang kasal?” (What if the wedding doesn’t push through?)

But Innocencia is sure that Marimar will stubbornly follow through with her original plans, “Hindi pwede, kilala ko si Marimar. “ She adds that once Marimar has made her decisions, they seldom change.

Back in the church it is one rare occasion indeed as Marimar backs out from her wedding. Marimar tries to remove her veil as she tells the priest, “Ayoko na Father.”

The priest is in shock, “Bakit ayaw mo na?”

She apologises to the priest and also to Rodolfo who has recovered from the initial shock and is now protesting that it’s too late for they have already taken their vows. “Um-Oo ka na!” (You’ve already said your “I do’s”)

But the priest saves Marimar, “Hindi pa nababasbasan, pwede pang umatras.” He states he has not given them their blessing yet so there is time to back out yet. He also points the obvious to Rodolfo, “Hindi ka niya mahal.”

Marimar apologise again but by now, Rodolfo becomes hysterical as he forces Marimar back to her position and urges the priest to continue with the ceremonies, “Ikasal nyo kami Father!”

Marimar struggles to get free and when she does, runs towards the church’s door to the world outside. Rodolfo screams her name.

Marimar emerges from the church crying as Sergio’s car driven by Arturo backs up and drives past. Sergio didn’t see Marimar running out as he had his head down, feeling sorry for himself.

Rodolfo is also feeling sorry for himself as his parents console him. He is angry and in tears at the pain and humiliation he is suffering because of Marimar.

He tells Sergio to love another instead.

Sergio hoped in his heart that the wedding wouldn’t push through.

Arturo admits that even he didn’t think it would happen. “Ako man umasa. Proud nga ako sa iyo” He tells Sergio he feared the racer would make a scene but he held himself making Arturo proud of his boss.

She seems keen on Marimar and Rodolfo getting married.

Innocencia admits, “Of couse nagpapakatotoo lang ako,” she’s just being real.

Antonio has a different view, “Pakiramdam ko kasi, parang ayaw mong magkabalikan si Sergio at Marimar.” He thinks Innocencia doesn’t want Sergio and Marimar to get back together. The young man senses Innocencia’s feelings for Sergio.

She insists that Sergio could love another.

But Antonio reminds her of Sergio’s great love for Marimar. “Alam mo Innocencia, simula binigay ni Sergio ang puso niya kay Marimar, hindi na niya ito nabawi.” Sergio has given his heart to Marimar and since then, he has never been able to get it back. Marimar still owns Sergio’s heart. She still has his love. She alone. I love this line of Antonio’s how true for Sergio – once he did admit that he loved Marimar, he wasn’t the same. In fact Antonio is probably the best person to vouch for this, seeing how Sergio resisted every temptation, even the luscious Kim Chan, because he loves only Marimar. Bonggang-bongga talaga!

Sergio admits to Arturo that he wanted to stop the wedding, but his love for Marimar prevailed. “Gusto kong pigilan ang kasal pero nangibabaw pa rin ang pagmamahal ko sa kanya.”

Arturo tries to soothe his sorrow, telling Sergio that his friends are just beside him whenever he may need them. “Andito lang kami para damayan ka.” He suggest that if he is up to it, they can all go out tonight, “Pwede ka na bang uminom?” Arturo asks Sergio whether he is allowed to drink yet as alcohol can have a soothing effect on the broken hearted. At least for a while.

But Sergio doesn’t want company, “Gusto ko mapag-isa,” and tells Arturo that he wants to be alone.

Bruno and Rodolfo are now at Bella’s home by the gate. Security detail block them from going any further. Rodolfo shouts at Bella, asking her to come out and talk to him, “Papasukin mo ako, may gusto lang akong linawin sa iyo.” He wants to clear something up with her and wants a talk.

The guard apologises telling the two men that they have orders not to let anyone in. Rodolfo flares up in anger and frustration. “Isa akong San Jinez! Hindi ako Santibanez na pwede mong paglaruan!” (I’m a San Jinez, not a Santibanez that you can toy with!)

Inside the house, Marimar and Esperanza have a talk. Marimar admits to her aunt that she never really wanted to marry Rodolfo. Esperanza asks her niece why she is not being true to her feelings. “Si Sergio ang mahal mo, siya ang gusto mong pakasalan.” Her aunt points out the obvious, that Marimar loves Sergio and it is him she wants to marry.

But Marimar’s fears takes over. Sergio had left her in the past and hurt her so badly she is scared of loving him again. “Pero niloko niya ako.”

Tia Esperanza reasons with Marimar that whatever Sergio may have done in the past, he has clearly regretted them and has done all he can to win her back. “Nagsisisi na siya.” She advises her niece to let go of her fear and anger and instead give Sergio another chance. “Patawarin mo na. Puntahan mo siya.” She urges Marimar to go and see Sergio. They must talk about their feelings to each other.

Monica is ironing some clothes when Diego arrives. She smiles and greets her husband. Diego asks where Monica’s friend is and she tells him that Angelika is asleep. This angers Diego, “Kapal ng mukha niya. Di ka man lang tulungan sa gawaing bahay.” He declares Angelika is such a parasite. She doesn’t even help Monica with the house chores.

She feels for Angelika who once had everything and now has nothing. A really bad turnaround.

Diego points out that whatever Angelika had, she used for evil so she is only paying the price. “Ginamit nya kasi sa kasamaan. Madami siyang taong nasaktan.” Angelika made a lot of people suffer.

Marimar tells her aunt that it is not that simple to forgive and forget. She fears that Sergio will make another promise and should he break it again, what will happen? Tia Esperanza tells Marimar that it is better for her to give Sergio a chance to make good on his promise. “Bigyan mo siya ng pagkakataon para tuparin niya ang kanyang pangako.” She calls Cruzita to come and give her mother a hug.

At his home, Sergio drinks alone. He is really at his lowest ebb. He doesn’t realize Marimar had called off her wedding.

In the SM office, Arturo reports to Antonio and Innocencia about the wedding. He too doesn’t know that it didn’t push through. “Natuloy ang kasal.”

Innocencia smugly looks at Antonio, “Sabi sa inyo eh.” (I told you so.)

Arturo adds that his heart goes out to Sergio. “Awang-awa ako. Pinigilan ko lang ang luha ko.” He wanted to cry but he just willed himself not to.

Sergio recalls Rodolfo and Marimar’s wedding this afternoon as he also remembers his own wedding day with Marimar. He looks at his wedding ring which he wears on a chain around his neck. He may be thinking to himself that he finally doesn’t need it anymore now that Marimar is married to someone else. This is his closure of sorts for the wedding that they never had…this wedding that he thinks did occur. He's becoming an actor na! Bonggang bongga!

Innocencia wants them all to go to Sergio and console him. Antonio suggests that they let Sergio be for now. Innocencia argues that it is now that Sergio needs his friends. Arturo comments that Innocencia could be quite obsessed at times, but she reminds her that Sergio will call them is he needs them. “Ay may pagka-dika-dika din pala ang girlalung ito! Hoy sisterette tatawagan tayo nun kung gusto tayong makasama ni bossing.” These are the kind of lines that make me love Arturo's character...so gay...but so witty!

Sergio pulls the chain off his neck as he sadly tells the truth about his marriage to Marimar, “Pero totoo, peke ang kasal natin.” It is true, our wedding was a fake.

Marimar Episode 84

Marimar Episode 84 – The one with the wedding, where Sergio lets Marimar go
Aired in the UAE on 13th December 2007

Arturo asks if Sergio knows about Marimar’s wedding. “Aabangan ko ito, baka i-televise ito. Invited ka ba?”

Antonio, sensing Sergio’s distress, stops Arturo from further blurting out questions that would only hurt Sergio more.

Corazon exclaims as Cruzita looks very pretty in her yellow gauzy gown. She innocently asks her yaya, “Di ko nab a daddy si Sergio?”

Corazon assures her that no matter what happens, Sergio will always be her father and that will never change. This makes Cruzita very happy and relieved as she shouts, “Yey”

Marimar’s heart in clearly not in this wedding she is having with Rodolfo as she reminisces the past with Sergio, their talk in the gazebo as she cries. She recalls how he asked for her forgiveness and to give him another chance. She remembers well their kiss. But she also recalls how he admitted that their wedding was a fake. She looks at her reflection in the mirror – beautiful in her wedding gown but too sad for a bride.

Sergio is thankful to be given another chance at life. He however is sad, “Buhay nga ako, di ko naman kasama si Marimar at anak ko, sana hinayaan na lang niya akong mamatay. Di ko kaya ito.” He is alive but not happy.

Diego is drinking with Monica in the small living room of their home. Monica is not drinking but just sharing the “pulutan” with her husband who is complaining about Angelika. Angelika comes out angered at the noise they are making. “Ano ba? Natutulog ako ang iingay ninyo!” She notices that the two are in the middle of an argument and asks why. Diego gets up and snaps, “Dahil sa iyo!” and walks out.

Corazon comes to Marimar telling her that everyone is ready and most of the guests are already at the church. It is time for them to go but Corazon notices Marimar had been crying and asks. Marimar brushes her question aside telling her to go ahead and she will follow. But Corazon persists, “Nag-iyak ka? Di ba dapat happy?” Reminding Marimar that a wedding should be a happy occasion especially for the bride.
Marimar pleads Corazon to leave her, not wanting to discuss her sorrow. She wants to be alone with her thoughts for a while but Corazon tells her frankly that she knows the reason why Marimar is sad. “Alam na nako yan, di gusto magpakasal kay Rodolfo. Feels nako yan”

In the church Rodolfo awaits for the wedding ceremonies to begin. He eagerly waits for his bride to arrive. Esperanza complains and is worried what is taking Marimar so long to arrive. The church assistant comes to talk to Rodolfo, asking him whether the wedding is still going to happen as planned as they are already half an hour late. Rodolfo trying hard to control his anger at his growing embarrassment tells the assistant to tell the priest to wait.

Angelika blames this current spat between Monica and her husband on her friend, calling Monica “boba” for marrying Diego. But Monica reminds her that it was Angelika’s idea for Monica to flirt with Diego.

Diego replies that before, Angelika may be able to order him and Monica around but not anymore. He further insults the former queen of Villa Santibanez by saying, “Basura ka na!”

Angelika screams at him, “Bastos!”

Monica still the loyal friend defends Angelika to her own husband telling Diego to stop, “Diego ano ba?”
Diego is firm on his declaration, “Gusto mo manatili dito? Matuto kang makisama!” If Angelika is to remain in their home, she must learn to do her share and no longer act like she owns them. She is after all living off their charity.

Corazon is confused with Marimar’s decision to marry Rodolfo when she doesn’t even love him. “Dili mo sya lab. Pero dili ko kasabut. I don’t understand why you are marrying him.” Then she tells Marimar, “May pagkakataon ka pa, umatras ka na.”

Marimar is firm in her resolve to push through with the wedding and asks Corazon to go and get her necklace.

Back at the church Bruno goes to Rodolfo and asks, “Where’s Bella? All the guests are getting worried already.” Rodolfo tries to call his bride but she has switched off her cell phone.

Marimar tells Corazon as she help her with her preparations, “Matagal ko nang pinag-isipan ito, pero tama ang desisyon ko.”

Corazon still persuades her to listen to her heart as Marimar is clearly not happy with whatever decision she made, “Makinig ka sa akin, hindi utak and pakinggan mo kundi ang puso, kung ano ang sinasabi ng puso mo Inday. Mag-atras ka, hubarin mo ang gown. Wag ka nang magpunta sa church ako ang bahala.”

Angelika is on the streets again looking for customers to sell her body. A dirty-looking fellow takes her to his jeep. Angelika hesitates, “Wala ka bang bahay?” The man admits his mother is at home and points towards his jeep saying, “OK na jan.” Angelika stalls by asking for his money first, “Teka bayad mo?” The man gives her a hundred pesos as he nudges her towards the ominous jeepney, “Tara na.”

Sergio looks at the wedding invite and in his frustration crumples it. Innocencia arrives and sees how upset Sergio is about the wedding. Sergio is sad as he admits to Innocencia, “Di nya ako mahal. Ginawa ko na ang lahat. Wala na akong halaga sa kanya.”

Innocencia wants Sergio to know that Marimar still loves him and tells him about her role in his rescue, “May kailangan kang malaman.”

Guests are already pensive at the church wondering whether the wedding is still going to happen and whether the bride is still coming or not. We overhear snippets of conversations saying, “kawawa naman si Rodolfo…” Rodolfo’s mother tries to silence the murmuring crowd by firmly saying, “Tuloy ang kasal.” She goes to her son and asks him, “Ano ba ang nangyayari?”

Rodolfo, feeling hope leave him, turns to Esperanza, “Tita Esperanza, ano na?” But even Esperanza doesn’t have any clue and her silence only confirm everyone’s growing doubts.

Sergio asks Innocencia, “Ano ang kailangan kong malaman?”

Innocencia reveals that even the rescuers admit they weren’t the one who found Sergio, in fact they were already willing to give up their search.

Bruno asks Rodolfo again, “Ano tuloy ba?”

Rodolfo replies, “Need to, Malaking pera na ginastos ko dito.”

Bruno asks his friend why Rodolfo insists on marrying Marimar. Rodolfo admits that he needs Marimar’s money. Bruno reminds his friend that Marimar doesn’t love him. Rodolfo shrugs, “I don’t care but we are a perfect match.”

Innocencia relates to Sergio that it was a private group who found and rescued him. Sergio realizes this as he says, “Ang ibig mong sabihin…”

Innocencia nods and answers before he finished his query, “may kumuha ng serbisyong iyon. Siya ang dahilan kung bakit buhay at ligtas ka ngayon.”

Sergio asks the inevitable, “Sino?”

Innocencia reveals “Si Marimar.”

Fulgoso arrives in the church in a van with Cruzita. Fulgoso is also wearing a tuxedo, looking quite smug in his canine cuteness.

Esperanza goes out to meet Bella who was genuinely happy that Esperanza found time off to attend the wedding, “Buti naman po nakarating kayo,”

Esperanza tells her niece, “Of course! I wouldn’t miss the most important day of your life.”

Sergio asks Innocencia if what she is saying is true and she confirms it, telling him she is sure. Antonio and Arturo arrive. Antonio asks, “Anong nangyayari dito? Pareho kayong naka-simangot?”

Innocencia declares that she just told Sergio the truth. Sergio finds out that what he thought he just saw in his mind was actually real. “Tama pala ang hinala ko. Si Marimar pala ang nakita kong nagbabantay sa akin.” A spark of hope appears and gives Sergio some strength.

Antonio states the obvious, “Sergio, mahal ka pa niya!”

Arturo is confused, “Eh bakit tuloy ang kasal kay San Jinez?”

Antonio prods Sergio to make his move, and quickly, “hahayaan mo lang ba? Di mo ba siya pupuntahan? Puntahan mo na siya!”

Rodolfo sees the group that just arrived and tells Esperanza that Bella should have been with them.

Bella shows herself and apologises to Rodolfo for being late. Rodolfo smiles and tells her, “It’s OK. Ang mahalaga nandito ka. Bella akala ko nagbago na isip mo. Pero di mo naman gagawin sa akin yon di ba? Una na ako sa loob, mag-ayos ka.” He goes inside to get ready and start their wedding.

Innocencia disagrees with Antonio’s suggestion. “Tapos na ang kasal.” Innocencia notes the time. “Kung pupunta doon si Sergio, anong gagawin nya doon? Kasal na si Marimar at Rodolfo. Respetuhin na lang natin ang desisyon niya.” Telling they guys to just respect Marimar’s decision to wed Rodolfo.

Esperanza is worried for her niece and talks to her. “Are you okay?” She can see that Marimar is not a happy bride. “Napipilitan ka lang, huwag mong ituloy ito. Kitang-kita sa hitsura mo.”

Sergio finally says his piece, “Hindi ko na guguluhin si Marimar. Kung ano man ang dahilan niya, niligtas niya ako, ayaw ko nang malaman pa.”

Antonio isn’t happy with his friend’s apparent acceptance of his defeat, “Sumusuko ka na?”

Marimar explains her side to her aunt, “Dahil sa pag-ibig nagging malungkot ako. At dahil sa pag-ibig puro poot na lang ang nandito sa puso ko. Ngayon sabihin mo sa akin, dapat pa ba akong magtiwala sa pag-ibig?” Esperanza feels for her niece, knowing what Marimar had gone through. She worries for her but says nothing.

Sergio shakes his head, disagreeing with Antonio. He doesn’t feel that he lost, he is only doing what he thinks is right, “Yan ang nararapat kong gawin. Ang hindi na pigilan ang kasal nila.” He is obviously too sad about Marimar marrying Rodolfo but he has finally learned to let go.

Marimar walks towards the church, to the waiting Rodolfo and the rest of her life.

Marimar Episode 83

Marimar Episode 83 – The one where Sergio and Rodolfo have “the talk”
Aired in the UAE, 12th December 2007

Marimar rescues Sergio. He is hurt but alive, thank God.

In the Santibanez Motors (SM) office, Arturo, Antonio and Innocencia hold a vigil awaiting news about Sergio. Everyone is worried but also tired. Arturo declares he is sleepy and wants to go home which irks Innocencia leading her to comment, “Nakakaya mong matulog? Sa mga oras na ito maaaring nag-aagaw-buhay si Sergio? Di ka tunay na kaibigan” (You’re not a true friend of Sergio’s. How can you think of sleep when at this very moment he may be struggling for his life?).

Arturo replies, “Ang taray. Pero huwag kang mapang-husga! Ika nga ni Melanie Marquez, don’t judge me, I’m not a book!” (Don’t be too judgemental.) He adds that Sergio’s been his friend far longer than Innocencia and wanting to go home and sleep doesn’t mean he cares less or is less worried of his friend.

Dr. Hayden Miranda is the man looking after Sergio. He tells Marimar that Sergio is fine but his vital signs are still unstable. He needs to stay in the hospital so they can observe him closely. Marimar cries as she almost lost Sergio in the plane crash. She looks at his resting body and moves closer. She whispers, “Sergio lumaban ka. Kailangan ka ng anak natin. Kailangan ka ni Cruzita. Mahal na mahal ka ni Cruzita.” She kisses Sergio as she adds, “Sergio, mahal na mahal kita,” finally admitting what her heart has been longing to say. (Sergio you have to fight. Cruzita needs you. She loves you very much. I love you very much.)

Sergio stirs as he gains consciousness. Marimar’s face is buried on his bed, beside his head. He feels her love as he whispers her name, ”Marimar…”

Back at the SM office Innocencia continues her martyr-like devotion to her boss. She tells Arturo if he wants to go home, then he just goes. She will wait even if she has to do it alone. Arturo is about to retaliate when Antonio stops them. “Tama na! Pwede ba wag kayong mag-away?” He tells both friends to stop fighting. He also suggests for Arturo to go home and they will just call him if they get any news. The phone rings. Innocencia answers and relief is clearly reflected on her beautiful face when she shares the good news with the two men waiting beside her, “Natagpuan na si Sergio. Saang ospital?” (Sergio's been found. Which hospital?)

Sergio looks at the person beside him, he knows it’s Marimar. He declares, “Mahal na mahal kita.” Marimar replies, “Mahal na mahal din kita.” Sergio loses consciousness again. Marimar calls the nurse for help.

The nurse goes to Sergio and tells Marimar that he is too weak. Marimar asks for confirmation that he is now out of danger. The nurse is not so assuring when she says, “Pag nagising po siya ng tuluyan, saka pa lang po nating malalaman.” (When he awakens again, then we will know for sure.)

Marimar urges Sergio to fight. She squeezes his hand. “Sergio, nandito lang ako. Sergio stay with me please.” (Oy pa-English-English na talaga si Marimar ha?! Bongga!)

Dr. Hayden is back as he checks on Sergio. “Everything is getting better. Normal na ang blood pressure nya at heart rate nya. So I guess he’s really responding well to the medication. That means that anytime soon, magigising na rin si Mr. Santibanez.”

Marimar asks the handsome doctor to look after Sergio well, even if he needs a private nurse to look after him and ensure he gets well. Dr. Hayden comments that Sergio is very lucky to have someone who loves him so much in the person of Ms. Aldama. She smiles but asks the doctor to keep this a secret. She adds that their situation is quite complicated and she doesn’t want Sergio to know she had anything to do with his rescue. She is even willing to pay to keep this a secret.

Doctor Hayden finds it unusual but assures her he will be happy to accommodate her special wishes. He will also talk to the staff so they know about her special condition. Marimar thanks him and gives him her business card.

In another hospital scene, the nurse urges Renato to eat but he refuses. He asks the nurse to take the food away. She insists but Renato is more stubborn. Dr. Ria arrives and takes over. She tells Renato that she has scheduled him for some therapy session so he can walk. She notices that he is in no mood to talk so she decides to read him the Lifestyle Section of the newspaper. Dr. Ria reads aloud, “Bella Aldama and Rodolfo San Jinez soon to wed”. Renato finds the name ‘Aldama’ familiar. He tells Dr. Ria that he may know someone with that name but he cannot clearly recall.

Marimar talks to the still sleeping Sergio. “Sabi ng duktor ligtas ka na raw at maya-maya lang magigising ka na. Aalis lang ako ha? Pero ipangako mo sa akin na gigising ka. Hinihintay ka ni Cruzita. Gumising ka para kay Cruzita at para sa akin.” (The doctor says you’re going to be fine and will awaken soon. I have to go but promise me you will awaken. Cruzita is waiting for you. Get better for Cruzita and for me.) She kisses Sergio lovingly on his cheeks, forehead and lips. Aw!

Renato is getting impatient with himself as he gets frustrated that his memory is not complete. Dr. Ria advises him to be patient. He complains that he feels like an invalid. He cannot walk, he has no memory. Dr. Ria tells him that he has to allow his body time to heal and also allow the people around him to help him get well. (Prove to God that he didn’t make a mistake with giving you another chance at life.) She leaves him the newspaper.

Renato glances at the paper and sees Marimar’s picture. He thinks hard, trying to recognize the face.

Sergio awakes, feeling a bit hazy. He looks at the person beside him hoping its Marimar but sees Innocencia instead. She is happy to see him awaken, “Salamat at nagising ka na.”

He asks for Marimar, “Asan si Marimar?” (Where is Marimar?)

Innocencia answers, “Si Marimar? Wala naman siya dito ah.” (Why she's not here.)

Sergio insists, “Nandito siya. Kausap niya ako. Asan siya?” (She was, I talked to her. Where is she?)

Innocencia assures him there is no one there but her. “Imposible ang sinasabi mo, ako lang kasi ang nagbabantay sa iyo dito eh. Ako lang ang kumakausap sa iyo.” (I'm the only one looking after you, the only one who has been talking to you.) Gaga, Marimar has been there, di mo lang alam kse feeling mo ikaw lang ang may malaking pag-ibig kay Sergio. Wake up girl, ibaling mo na lang ang pag-ibig mo kay Antonio, mas bagay kayo....leave Sergio to Marimar!

Marimar is at home and is speaking with Dr. Hayden on the phone. He is updating her about Sergio’s condition. He is conscious and will transfer to a room. She asks if there is anyone with Sergio. She thanks Dr. Hayden for calling her.

She enters the living room to find Rodolfo. She is surprised to see him while he is suspicious about who Marimar is talking to on the cell phone. “Sinong kausap mo?”

Marimar lies “Tungkol sa opisina.” (It’about work.) But Rodolfo is not assured, feeling that something is amiss. “Tapatin mo nga ako, saan ka ba nagpupunta? Nung tumatawag ako, hindi mo sinasagot ang mga calls ko. Bella malapit na tayo ikasal. Sana wala ka nang ginagawang mga bagay na pweding dahilan para hindi matuloy ang kasal natin.” (Tell me the truth, where have you been going? You don’t take my calls! We are about to be married, I hope you’re not doing anything that could be the cause for our wedding not pushing through.) Marimar looks away, afraid that Rodolfo would find the truth in her eyes.

Antonio and Arturo are in hospital garb too as they enter the ICU. Arturo asks Innocencia if Sergio is awake and they see he is. Arturo blurts out, “Bossing grabe, alam mo ba pinakaba mo kami! Lahat ng santo dinasalan ko na pati si Adonis!” (You made us so worried! I prayed to all the saints including the Greek Adonis!) hahaha I love Arturo's lines! It adds comic relief in all this heavy drama.

Antonio adds, “We were so worried, feeling nga namin helpless na kami dahil yung rescue team, ayaw na ituloy ang paghahanap” (The rescue team wanted to give up the search.)
Sergio asks them who rescued him. Innocencia, feeling it was her own efforts that saved Sergio declares, that perhaps it is also the rescue team as she never stopped bugging them to keep looking. Maybe just to shut her up, they kept searching.

Sergio thanks her. Innocencia replies she only did what was right. Arturo notices that Innocencia keeps saying it was all her, her efforts, her perseverance. He reminds her that there were three of them that talked to the rescue team. Antonio stops them from arguing telling them that what is important is that Sergio is now doing well and it doesn’t matter who did the rescuing.

Cruzita asks Corazon why her father has not called her yet. Corazon lies that perhaps he is busy. Cruzita complains that he is always busy.

Marimar calls Arturo and asks for him to pass the phone to Sergio so he and Cruzita can talk. She thanks Arturo for doing this favor as the gay man on the other end asks if Sergio is strong enough to be able to talk to Cruzita.

Sergio “Hi baby.”

Cruzita “Hello daddy. “

Sergio, “How are you?”

Cruzita, “I miss you. Where are you?” Marimar and Corazon look at Cruzita, perhaps, thankful that Sergio survived the crash and the the chance to talk to his daughter again.

Sergio, “Resting lang anak. Napagod si daddy.” (Daddy’s tired.)

(Why didn’t you call me, you promised to call me.)

Sergio, “Sorry ha?”

Cruzita, “OK lang po daddy. I miss you. Dito ka na, gusto na kita makita.” (Please come, I want to see you)

(Daddy’s coming home.)

Cruzita tells Sergio that she dreamed about him. That he didn’t return to her. She innocently asks him whether her dream was true. Sergio gets emotional realising how close to the truth Cruzita's dream had been. He reminds Cruzita, “Just don’t forget to pray always. I love you.” Cruzita also tells him she loves him and passes the phone to Marimar who listens to it but remains silent. Sergio keeps the phone on his ear for a few seconds, listening to the line before he cuts the calls.

Innocencia tells Sergio he has received many ‘get well’ wishes from his friends and asks whether he likes to read them. Sergio begs off for now. “Saka na tinatamad pa ako eh.” A knock reveals Rodolfo.

Rodolfo, “Santibanez.”

Sergio, “San Jinez, naligaw ka yata.” (Are you lost?)

Corazon watches Marimar as she closes the phone. Marimar tells her, “Sana maayos na siya.” Hoping that Sergio is indeed all right.

Corazon asks her, “Bakit hindi mo pa tinanong, nasa telephone na nga.” (Why didn’t you ask him when you had the chance, on the phone)

Marimar admits she doesn’t know what to say to him. Corazon has only one sentence in reply, “Ang arte-arte nimo Inday.” (You’re over-reacting to all this, making it more complicated.)

Rodolfo tells Sergio that he’s heard about what happened, the crash and all. He also handed Sergio an envelope. Sergio jokes whether it’s another ‘get well’ card. Rodolfo smiles and says it’s better than a get-well card. It’s the invitation to his and Bella’s wedding which is this coming Friday. He adds in his natural mocking fashion that he will understand it if Sergio can’t come as he may not have been fully recovered by then.

Corazon tells Marimar she knows that she still loves Sergio. “Mahal mo pa siya. Kahit anong sabihin mo, mahal mo pa rin siya kahit sinasabi mong hindi.” Corazon explains how obvious it is with Bella acting as a very “concerned citizen” on behalf of Sergio moving heaven and earth to find him, rescue him, make sure he gets the best medical attention and treatment. It all shows how Marimar is still in love with Sergio.

Sergio opens the invite and asks Innocencia to leave the room. Rodolfo comments there must be something important, as Sergio had to send out his lovely secretary. (I know you’re here to show me I’ve lost and you won.)

Rodolfo, “Naku, I’m sorry….I’m guilty.”

Marimar reasons that she is doing it for Cruzita’s sake. She doesn’t want Cruzita to blame her that she didn’t do anything to help Sergio during his accident and time of need. Corazon asks her if that is the only reason. Marimar doesn’t reply directly only saying that, “Corazon ikakasal na ako.” (I’m about to get married.)

Sergio goes straight to the point, “Tatapatin na kita, hindi kita gusto. Mayabang ka, masyadong mataas ang tingin mo sa sarili. Pero ang totoo wala ka. Ampaw, walang laman puro hangin. Kaya isang malaking pagkakamali ang ginawa ni Bella na pakasalan ka.” (I will be honest with you, I don’t like you. You’re a humbug. You think too highly of yourself. When in truth, you are nothing. All air and no substance. Bella is wrong in her decision to marry you.) Rodolfo bites into the apple, eating it while Sergio talks.

Rodolfo, “Well your opinion doesn’t matter to me. Ang mahalaga tuloy ang kasal namin ni Bella.“ (What is important is that our wedding goes on as planned.)

He taps Sergio on the shoulder as he adds, “At saka Santibanez, huwag kang magkikilos baka mabinat ka ikamatay mo yan.” (Don’t strain yourself, you may get a relapse and die.) Even if Rodolfo is sarcastic, he adds a different shade to this teleserye, he's not just your stereo-typical rival. I do find him quite hilarious in a film-noir kind of way.

He turns to leave, “Mauna na ako.”(I better go.)

Sergio calls him back, “Sandali…” (Wait…)

Rodolfo stops and turns around, “Bakit?” (Why?)

“ (I’ve accepted my defeat.) Rodolfo sighs, a small smile forms in his lips.

(I did everything I can to win her back, but I failed. So even if it’s hard for me, I need to entrust to you, the woman that I love and my daughter. Love them both.) Rodolfo nods as he comes closer to Sergio’s bed.

Sergio asks Rodolfo to make him a promise. “ Ipangako mo sa akin na hinding-hindi mo sila sasaktan. Ibigay mo sa kanila lahat ng pagmamahal na karapat-dapat sa kanila. At si Marimar, sana maging mabuti kang asawa ka sa kanya. Dahil napakaswerte mo para makuha mo siya. Huwag mo siyang paiiyakin.” (Promise me that you will never hurt them. Give them the love that they deserve. Promise you will be a good husband to Marimar because you’re lucky to have her. Never let her cry.)

Sergio looks at Rodolfo in the face and asks if her can promise him all that. “Magagawa mo ba yon?”

Rodolfo takes a deep breath, taking on the promise he solemnly declares, “Oo Sergio. At higit pa doon ang gagawin ko.” (Yes, and I will do more than that.)

Sergio holds out his hand, Rodolfo takes it and holds it firmly. They shake, like gentlemen, in agreement at last.

Sergio, “Salamat.” (Thanks.)

Rodolfo nods his head in earnest and leaves.

Sergio takes a look at the wedding invite again. Sadness is reflected on his face as a teardrop falls from his eye.

Marimar couldn’t believe what Rodolfo has done, going to the hospital to visit Sergio. (What did you do there?)

Rodolfo looking smug on the sofa, “Wala lang, I heard what happened to him and you know, I was concerned.”

Marimar sits down, still curious, “Ano naman ang napag-usapan nyo?” (What did you talk about?)

Rodolfo remains vague, “This and that. Napag-usapan naming ang tungkol sa nalalapit nating kasal.” (We talked about our coming wedding.)

Marimar wants to know about Sergio’s opinion. Rodolfo reports that he is happy for them. “In fact genuinely happy,” he adds.

Rodolfo lies saying Sergio admitted that he, Rodolfo, is the one really more deserving of Marimar and that the racer admits that he, Rodolfo, would be a good husband to Marimar.

Marimar is not expecting the same reaction, not from Sergio and asks, “Hindi siya nagalit?” (He wasn’t upset?)

Rodolfo brushes it aside, “Medyo nainggit ng konti, alam mo naman yon.” (He got a bit jealous, knowing Sergio.)

Then he drops the seeds of doubts to further sever Marimar and Sergio’s ties. “Pero nung dumating ako may kasama siya eh, magandang babae, sekretarya nya ata yon?” (But he was with someone, a very beautiful woman, I think his secretary?)

Marimar concludes, “Si Innocencia?” a hint of jealousy in her voice.

The nurses are chatting with Dr. Hayden in their station. The girls comment how beautiful Ms. Bella Aldama is in person and how she seems to truly love and care for the patient. One of the nurses wonders out loud that she read in the papers that Bella is about to get married to Rodolfo San Jinez. Dr. Hayden tells his staff that Bella doesn’t anyone to know that she had a hand in Sergio’s rescue and treatment. He tells them that she requested that this be kept a secret.

Innocencia was passing by and overhears their conversation, certain now that Sergio did see Marimar in the hospital as he first claimed.

Marimar Episode 82 - The one where Marimar rescues Sergio

Marimar Episode 82 - The one where Marimar rescues Sergio
Aired in the UAE on 11th December 2007

In the crash site, Sergio awakens. He is badly hurt with lots of wounds. He tries to get up. He stands but has a huge cut on his stomach. His clothes are tattered and burnt in many places. He walks away from the burning debris of the plane.

Arturo is praying. He prmosies “Pag nalaman kong safe siya, magbabagong buhay na ako. Di na magpapaka-bading,” he’d turn a new leaf and go straight but takes it back in the end saying, “Etching lang yon!” (Just kidding).

Antonio sends a more serious and sincere prayer for his friend as do Innocencia who adds to herself, “Huwag nyo po sanang pababayaan si Sergio - Ang lalaking pinakamamahal ko.”

Marimar continues to worry that they haven’t found Sergio yet. She fears that he may be badly wounded and may die from his wounds.

Innocencia who is keeping vigil with Arturo and Antonio in the Santibanez Motors office answers a phone call from the rescue team who are informing them that they will be resuming the operations tomorrow. Innocencia got livid with anger screaming that they must do the search today and continue doing so until Sergio has been found.

Corazon asks Marimar for any updates on the search for Sergio. Marimar cries and tells the nanny that she doesn’t want her daughter, Cruzita to know about her father yet. Corazon feels for her ward and comments, “Maaga maulila sa ama.” (She’ll miss her father, losing him this early).

Marimar gets upset at Corazon’s words and insists that Sergio is still alive. “Alam ko, buhay si Sergio!” Just then Cruzita comes asking whether her father has called yet. She reminds Corazon that when Sergio calls and she is asleep, to wake her so that she can talk to her father. Corazon and Marimar exchanged worried glances but try to appear calm for Cruzita’s sake.

The man representing the rescue team who is talking to Innocencia at the other end of the line advises her, “Ihanda ninyo ang mga sarili, may chance na patay na siya.” (Prepare yourselves; there’s a likely chance that he may be dead.)

Innocencia breaks down in tears and Arturo and Antonio console her. (What are you? God that you can dictate whether a person is dead or not? Find Sergio. Please find him!)

Bella is in a meeting with Rodolfo and some of their partners but Bella’s mind is somewhere else. Rodolfo is talking and asks for her opinion but she is clearly distracted and couldn’t answer him.

Angelika complains about the food at the dinner table. Monica keeps silent but Diego couldn’t stand her arrogance as he comments, “Kung gusto mo ng masarap na ulam, bumili ka! Pero paano mo magagawa yan eh wala ka nang pera?” (If you want to eat something you prefer, then go ahead and buy it! But how can you do that now that you no longer have any money?)

Angelika is shocked at his affront and snaps, “Bodyguard lang kita.” (You are only my bodyguard.)

Diego retorts, “Dati yon.” (That was before.) He tells his wife who chose to remain silent, “Pabigat lang siya dito.” (She’s but dead weight around here.)

After their meeting, Rodolfo confronts Bella about not concentrating on their meeting. The ambitious young man adds that he hope the distraction is about their forthcoming wedding. He does have another meeting to run to and so leaves Bella alone with her worries but before that, Bella assures him that their wedding is going to push through as planned.

Monica apologises to Angelika about Diego’s behaviour. Angelika swears to find a job and when she does get by some money she’s going to slap them on Diego’s face. “Isasampal ko sa mukha niya!”

Rodrigo, Marimar’s bodyguard and head of the team presents her with the best rescue team in the country. They are trained in the United States and are based in Zubic (where the US Naval Base used to be). Bella talks to them and assures them that money is not a problem. She adds that should they find and rescue the person, they would also receive a generous bonus. She takes steps to assure that Sergio does get found and rescued.

Sergio is weakened by his many injuries and from the loss of too much blood. He falls down and crawls instead. Unable to go on, he lies on his back on the ground.

Angelika goes back to selling herself to get some cash. She is with a customer but unluckily, he gets caught by his wife who attacks Angelika. In the struggle, she loses her eye patch and the couple cringed at seeing how ugly she is without the patch. They leave her fallen on the ground. She gets up and walks away, conscious of the people who can see how ugly she is.

Renato wants to be released from the hospital but Dra. Ria convinces him to stay awhile. She says that he needs to undergo more tests. (Perhaps I’m paying for the bad deeds I’ve done in the past. Paying for the mistakes I’ve made to my wife and my only son.)

Marimar paces in her home, unable to feel settled until Sergio is found. In her mind she hopes he is safe. “Nasaan ka man ngayon, sana ligtas ka.”

In the forest, Sergio is about to give up. He is in too much pain and suffering and just wants it all to end. “Diyos ko, kung gusto nyo akong junin, tatanggapin kong maluwag sa puso ko ang kamatayan ko. Isa lang po ang hiling ko, kung nasaan man si Marimar ngayon, ihatid nyo sa kanya ang pagmamahal ko.” (God, if you deem it time for my life to end, I accept it wholeheartedly. I ask just one thing: wherever Marimar is right now, send her my love.)

Marimar continues to fret and promises to hold off her plans for revenge agains the man who hurt her the most, the same man she loves more than anyone, the man she hopes is safe and alive. “Pangako, di na ako maghihiganti. Tatanggalin ko na ang poot sa puso ko, iligtas nyo lang po si Sergio.”

Sergio is dying as Marimar, across the seas, cries. Flashback to some of their times spent together, a celebration of the love and life they’ve shared. Sergio leaves them, Marimar and Cruzita, to God. “Kayo na po ang bahala kay Marimar at Cruzita.” He closes his eyes. Rest embraces him along with cold and darkness.

Cruzita asks her mother why her dad has not called her yet. “I miss him.” Declares the child who is starting to feel that something must be wrong. Marimar brushes off her fears assuring her that her father would call her soon, telling Cruzita that Sergio is just busy with his work.

Angelika arrives at Monica and Diego’s home without shoes and with many scratches from the wife who attacked her. Monica looked concerned while Diego appeared annoyed.

Renato asks the pretty doctor why he can recall some things clearly and others, not at all. He gets flashes of some memories but they remain unclear to him. He doesn’t understand many of his recollections. Dr. Ria assures him that this is normal. He suffered through a trauma and in time his memories will all come back.

Angelika cries in front of the couple. She laments that her beauty is gone when it had been one of her assets. “Dati lahat ng babae kina-iingitan ako. Lahat ng lalaki, pinagnanasahan ako.” Women envied her and men wanted her back then.

Monica cries, feeling for her friend’s loss. Diego retorts it is but karma for all the bad things she has done and leaves the two women to cry on each other’s shoulders.

Angelika sees her friend crying and asks, “Monica, naaawa ka ba sa akin?” (Do you feel sorry for me?)

Monica, honest as usual answers, “Nanghihinayang ako doon sa sapatos. Paborito ko kasi yon, pero tama na.” (I feel sad that you lost my shoe, it was one of my favorites but enough.) She calms Angelika down, telling her friend that it’s time to stop crying.

Dra. Ria asks Renato about his earlier statement. “Kanina nabanggit mo na meron kang kasalanan na dapat mong pagbayaran?” (Earlier you mentioned that you are only paying for the evil deeds you’ve done?)

Renato explains, “Masamang tao ako. Di ako naging mabuting asawa at ama. May isang anak ako. Di ko minahal.” (I was a bad person. I haven’t been a good husband and father. I have a son whom I didn’t love.)

The doctor gives him hope. “May pagkakataon pa para baguhin ang sarili.” (There is time to change one’s self.)

Renato turns his back on the kindly doctor as he lets the tears of regret roll down. Dra. Ria looks on her patient with worry.

Marimar, in safari fashion, joins the rescue team as they search for Sergio in the forest. (Nice song by Gerald Santos!) She calls out Sergio’s name. Somewhere in the area, Sergio dies. His face turns white as his soul leaves his body. (My five year old daughter commented that Sergio looked like a gorilla when he turned pale!)

A light comes from a short distance and Sergio’s soul, now in while t-shirt (he was wearing a blue polo shirt) and jeans (sana white pants na rin!), walks over to the light. He smiles as he finds eternal rest.

Marimar walks towards the body, calling for Sergio and turns around and finds something, she runs towards it as she realises it’s Sergio. She drops her hat and kneels down beside Sergio’s body. She listens for his heartbeat as she calls for the rest of the team to come to where she is. She has found Sergio! She removes her jacket to cover his body. (Mind you all done in slow-motion....with the song still on.)

Sergio’s soul looks back from the light to see Marimar beside his mortal remaims. He smiles, happy to see his love and goes back towards his body where she is now crouched. He sits beside the woman he loves, watching her as she covers him with her jacket. He feels her need of him, and of his own need, to be with her, overpowering death. His soul returns to his body.

Sergio inhales and opens his eyes to find Marimar. He closes them again as the rest of the team come to their aid. They give the survivor first aid and put him in a stretcher bound for the best hospitals in Manila.

Marimar rescued the man she loves. Sergio lives.
